Good day all, I am in need of some council from those that have been there. I am getting prepared to jump on-board the mobile site biz train along with everyone else, I am grabbing Willr's course and snapper program. To do this I need to be able to take payments...to take payments I need a merchant account...to get a merchant account I need a business bank account...to get the bank account I need a registered business name...everyone still with me so far...awesome. Here is my dilemma...as much as I am planning on starting with mobile site builds my long term goal is larger...desktop sites, mobile marketing, seo, etc... I was thinking of going with something like Scorpio Web Solutions...but now I am wondering if that is to broad and I should go with something mobile specific...like Robert X did with his awesome name.."Rockstar Mobile Media". My concern with going to specific is that when I branch out I may have to use a new name and get a new account, etc... Would love thoughts, suggestions, or kicks in the ass telling me I am way over thinking this and to just get started already. Thanks for all useful comments, Adrian |

This is how I started. Sole Proprietorship. Checks & Cash. Obviously you need a business name and to register it with your county. Then just go out & sell! Good luck! |

Branding is really important, have you ever considered using a variation of your name i.e John Smith Media, John Smith Marketing |

Short, ringy names are the best. I wouldn't suggest Scorpio Web Solutions as it is a bit too long and generic. Even something like Avan Marketing is cool to me!

I wouldn't put your name in it to be honest as if you ever want to sell it, I would just come up with something super catchy and unique!

Don't get too hung up on a name - just decide on something and get out there are and make it work. Don't be afraid of doing the 'wrong thing'. To your success! |

I used 'media' in my name so that I can branch out into all aspects and am not just stuck in one section of the market.

Don't forget about trademarks. Choose a name that's confusingly similar to an existing mark, and sooner or later you'll be in court, unraveling all those accounts you setup in that name. Don't worry too much about having the perfect name, or making it short. Most people will never even know your company name; they'll only know the names of your sites or products. |

Thanks Willr...as it is your course I will be picking up...I will definitely take your advice on the matter... You make a very good point though...I was originally going to go with XYZ Web Solutions, but I can see how that would limit me. Very...Very good point Dan...on both points in your post...thanks. |

I've been rolling around the use of Media in my name all day...that really works well with a couple of the different names I was thinking off.... Now to work on demo sites while I decide on the first half of the name. Thanks Again all |
