Hi guys, I have an appt. with a potential client (Pizza place) who wants to see a mockup of a mobile website. I was thinking of pitching him SMS marketing also. But I am wondering how does he build his list without tables and where you can't add table tents? I am guessing most of the orders are delivery/carryout. One way would probably be to stick a small flyer onto the pizza box with a deal for joining the SMS plan. Anyway, let me know any ideas/ thoughts on this. Thanks! |

Also, you can hand out a 'promo card' ... basically a business card size replica of the counter sign with the same message. Ask about OTHER advertising that they do and include the text call-to-action on that. Brings in NEW customers by doing that. And yes, a box topper is a real good idea too! | |

This is easier, not tougher. Home delivery is the preferred way.

I like the idea of the pizza box, how about getting the offer printed on the pizza boxes on the next batch they get done?

QR Code to opt-in always works nice and can easily be printed on a poster on the wall or window of the pizza shop. Offering some kind of discount or call to action will help conversions as well!

Another thing you can do is create a little loyalty punch card thing. That's not directly mobile, but it is a way to get people coming back. You can couple it with a mobile QR opt in thing if you wanted.

I think mobile (website and sms) would work great for this potential client. For SMS don't worry about the how. From the other posts in this thread you clearly see that is easy. Focus on the why. Ask him about his business. Ask him how often the average customer repeats. Explain how SMS can help turn those once a month customers into twice a month or more. Tie it into how his business flow is. Did he tell you he gets a lot of business on Sunday right before the game? I bet those customers don't order every week. How can you help him get more of those Game Day fans ordering from him every Sunday? How could we use SMS to turn those Sunday customer into wed night customers? How about sending this text out to his VIP club? "Order your Game Day pie this Sunday and get a coupon for 20% off your next mid week order." Would the guy wavering to buy this sunday order? Yeah Would that guy likely use his mid week coupon right away? Yeah I bet you he will order Tues or Wed. Could he work out a deal with his Pepsi (or Coke) Vendor to get a discount while promoting free Pepsi with orders? hell yes he could. And SMS is a great way to promote it. "Raving Fan Appreciation Week Order this week and get a free 2 liter of Pepsi with every Large Pizza. VIP Club Members also get cheese sticks for only $2 more." Throw out stuff like this and he will love you. Tie the SMS signup into a button on the mobile site and it will even be more golden. |

IMO (and experience with restaurant owners) the best way is for an employee to ask the customer if they are receiving their specials via text, then help them opt in Right Now! An incentive to do so on the spot will also help.
