As a startup, the easiest way to promote apps would be to create social media pages for each app. Promoting across social media (add a bit of paid promotion to it) will help you get the attention of the target audience. Paid ads on Facebook specially, will help you keep the CTA as 'Install App' and then take the viewer to the app store to download the app.

Exchange reviews: I was originally a fan of sites like smoothreviews.com which helped you get reviews for your app, but I have been hearing a lot about the problems with this. If you want to know more about what the problems are just drop a comment and I will explain in comments.

Marketing the Mobile App is of high importance since the number of apps in app stores are increasing day by day and getting your app in top position is a must for higher installs.

1) Use titles and app names which have good search volume

2) Upload highly appealing screenshot of apps which can attract users , video of app functioning will also help in great ways

3) Promote appstore links in social media platforms such as facebook, twitter etc .

4) If you are looking for paid promotion promoting on facebook via ads is highly effective as well as google adwords

5) I recommend another technique whereby if you have website you can provide an area in a website
whereby when the user types in his mobile number or email id the the app store link to download is sent to the concerned phone as an sms , and also email.

6) Also provide a number whereby when a user gives a missed call on that number and sms goes to that number with the download link of app

You should start with ASO, then paid performance marketing (like Social Ads, Google Search Ads / AdWords, display Ads, etc.) Also, try to implement some "viral loop" on your app so your users bring more users to it.

I personally believe that one of the best approaches is ASO or AppStore Optimization. It will drive you more organic traffic for the lower budget.
You can go either in AppStore Ranking or Keyword ranking. And personally I believe Keyword ranking is stronger vs AppStore Ranking, Keyword ranking will display you in the Keywords that potential users will search on per country. Which is great! Because people tend to use search option far more than just browse the Appstore for new apps.
