Any thoughts on Mobile SEO? It's a hot topic with my membership groups, and in the search media. I find lots of hype and little meat with this topic. Here's a dose of reality that should make you consider Mobile SEO as critical with your websites. #1. Click-thru Rates are amazing - IF you are #1 or #2. According to Google earlier this year, the CTR goes down 90% when you go from #1 to #3. With "traditional SEO" you will typically see a drop of 50-55%. For standard SEO the percentage is 50% to 60% Would love to have an engaging discussion on this topic. |

I can really understand why CTR are higher for top rankings in mobile, with a far less cluttered screen, and more focus on the top ranked websites. But would be interested to see statistics for mobile ads and what effect number of reviews has on CTR. |

Hey Liquidseo I have been doing traditional SEO work over my client's mobile websites (onpage and marketing over the web). Their websites are ranking on first page but not on top positions. It is true that mobile SEO is getting a lot of hype but not much content, what else can I do for ranking high. |

Sounds like we do the same thing. All I do is focus heavily on basics: content Meta Tags Strategic Backlinks Social Buzz I don't see any magic bullet for instant top rankings with mobile. Yes, it is!

saw this today 1 out of 5 new Facebook fans now comes from mobile–a 280% increase from May to August if you look at the huge number of people using the facebook app on their smart phones - doesn't it make sense that any outward bound links go to mobile friendly content... its just something you can't dismiss - today with the smartphone threshold in the US being at around 50% you cant afford not to provide a good mobile experience to your mobile visitors |
Sorry, I am too busy helping people to think of a cool signature!

For the most part any mobile website you create you can optimize just like a regular website. This is what you may need: Proper Google analytics connection - Good meta tags and quality content that is search engine friendly. There's a reason Google separated the search results based on a PC and a mobile now its because you can SEO your mobile websites so it has more visibility for those looking on mobile. |

yeah I think the jury is still out on seo for mobile, cuz it's still pretty early to tell. But it probably works just like google search, only for mobile it's more for local search, and having a mobile optimized site can't hurt.
