I have a separate mobile website which begins with "m.domain". But it does not rank in Google when searched through mobile instead the desktop version ranks. Now this issue is not limited to my website but is also found with wikipedia websites and other well know websites? I just dont understand why is Google not ranking m.domains high in SERP's compared to dektop URL's? Afterall, m.domains are best for mobiles/smartphone. |

Try to search on your mobile for city or location restaurants and you won't find .mobi or m.site.com Also first listed are paid advertisers and then organic results without having mobile optimized site. That's why when you try to sell a mobile site to a business owner they are skeptical, they say why should they bother with a mobile site when Google list their desktop site. Worse they are afraid that it could decrease their ranking. I hope that Google will change how results from mobile searches will be in near future. | |

What I suggest and do is host your mobile site on a m.site.com then get a LLL.mobi that can match your site like is you have a site about restaurant in St Louis get RST.mobi or STR.mobi anyway something less than 4 char. and redirect to that .com, I will promote the .com for SEO and also let people knows they can access to the mobile site faster by typing the LLL.mobi

Even though it has been said that Googs ranks mobile - the fact is they do not. You're better off just trying to rank the main site - which will show up in both searches and will switch automatically to the mobile when needed. Stick to user experience 1st because the googs keeps changing their mind on how they rank mobile. |
