Hey Warriors! Just wondering if anyone has heard of Proximity Marketing? Where they are able to target cell phones in a mile(s) Radius of your assigned "Zone" and able to send them a message I believe Via Bluetooth or GPS. Anyone have any success with this? |

This is currently not possible without some heavy duty custom development. Bluetooth needs to be approved by the user before a connection can be made. SMS is also strickly opt-in based so unless someone opts-in to your list then you will not be able to message them. |

Apple's new Passbook app for newer iPhones is supposed to enable some of these features. So if someone downloads your app, and you have enabled Passbook on it, then you can send notifications when users are in proximity of certain locations. I'm doing some research on this for one of my own apps but haven't tested it out yet. I'd be interested if someone else has used Passbook in this way. |

1. Get a Bluetooth Marketing software that finds the phones and sends the messages: BlueMagnet, FREE Bluetooth Advertising Software 2. Get a better WIFI antenna to connect to your laptop so you can cover a larger space. I went through all of this and didn't get any great results at all. I tested it in busy shopping centres but as the poster above mentioned, people need to approve your connection before you can send them the message. | |

Opt-in is important, as well as privacy to the mobile user.

I disagree, as we have been selling proximity marketing along with our digital signage hardware for the past 6 months to major shipping malls... Dexter. |
