Hello WF gang. There was an idea that I felt will benefit all mobile marketers or even future mobile marketers. I will like for all mobile marketers to provide valuable feedback and express what are your personal thoughts on some mobile marketing mistakes. In starting this thread Ill add 2 of my own. 1. Lack of engagement with costumers -Some businesses feel once they have a mobile app or even a website; they feel as everything will play itself out. For example, some business(restaurants, clothing boutiques, real estate agents) will feel that there will be no need for further or constant engagement with current and future customers. This type of mindset can hurt local businesses. 2. Lack of Value -Promoting the same offers specials for consecutive days, weeks, or even months. Customers may be tired or fed up with same specials. Always good to offer new promotions, coupons, and special. In certain occasions even a different product, meal, or style of jeans for the season or for a limited amount of time. Lack of value will hurt businesses badly. |

I guess your points are more related for the whole Marketing, not Mob. Regarding Mobile Mistakes I would say that some advertisers don't target by devices while the difference in conversion can be huge. Secondly, buttons on the landing pages should be convenient for clicking on devices. Thirdly, registration forms should be minimalistic: avoid long list of required fields. Mobile users won't bother typing all info. They are lazier than web users. |

Hey Piren Thanks for sharing all your points. The third one you mentioned im specially agreeing with what you wrote. Costumers or leads will not want to have so much time consumed in writing or going through dreadful requirements. We all want things to be as smooth and efficient as possible. |

Concerning engagement for customers. The purpose of any advertising is to get the potential customer to your door. It's always good to offer coupons, or deals. Everyone likes to feel like they got a good deal, so it helps to make the sale. And it's good to have a strong call to action. But that doesn't mean they are going to buy the product or service when they get to your site. Let's say they do. Ask yourself, will they call me back again? The person who knows how to cater to his clients or customers, is far more successful than someone who does not. It brings a smile to my face when I get even a simple electronic Christmas card from a supplier ...and I don't forget them. |

The gesture of gratitude by sending a xmas cards to customers is a plus. Customer will definitely come back not just for the good product but also the service(treatment, cards, recognition).

Short is always better but sometimes offers, such as payday loans, are a bit more intensive.. has anyone had luck with offers that require more info>?

I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. Lack of engagement and value are 2 huge blunders many companies make. It's not just about having that mobile presence, it's about connecting with your customers on a regular and meaningful basis.

Value is such a hidden key to increasing sales and landing customers and local businesses. Its always good to see it from their perspective and what they want and will benefit from.

Another one is complex navigation. Some mobile marketers just don't realize that some mobile phones come with a small screen; and while others have bigger screens, another problem is that they're uncomfortable with the touchscreen. So I suggest that these mobile apps should find ways to make their mobile navigation more simpler and easier, and make the mobile app experience fun and meaningful for its users.

Happened a few days ago: Came across an ad for a restaurant, looked them up on my cell phone. They had a nice, mobile site. I wanted to see the menu and prices. Guess what? It was a large pdf file. By the time it loaded, I had time to look up another restaurant, drive there, order, eat and drink a cup of coffee. I.e., not thinking the process through, or thinking it's just like some other process you have. |

Too many salesmen concentrate on the features of a mobile website. Business owners don't care about that stuff because they don't see it making them anymore money and so they can't relate to it. Instead of showing them a click to call button tell them the benefit of that button to their business. The person driving along in their car on the way home wanting to order takeaway and instead of having to visit a website, remember a number, and type it into their phone, they can instead click this one button and instantly call in their order. |

Hi let me point out some of mobile marketing mistakes * Many a times many businessmen start running their mobile marketing campaign without having a mobile optimized site. This is really terrific. * having a low quality banner ads like some ugly or curde banner ads, that loses many of your valuable users. * Many a times there is a mismatch between the content and the mobile messaging, This is in fact the biggest mistake done in mobile marketing. |
