When we talk about the types of mobile apps, an immediate and straight forward answer that comes in mind, is basing on the various mobile platform, the types of apps developed. So, we have android apps, iPhone apps, iPad apps, kindle apps and so on.

But as for me, here when we discuss about the various categories, in which mobile apps can be divided; then there are around 23 in number; all of which may fit fine to 6 different types. They can be listed as follows:
* Social Networking
* Productivity
* News
* Entertainment
* Games
* Utilities

Let us have a brief discussion on each of the types so as to become much more familiar with the apps field.
Social Networking apps:
Most of us use this kind of apps on a daily basis. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc are all social networking apps which we use every now and then from our mobile device.
Productivity apps:
Those apps which help us in increasing our productivity are referred to as productivity apps. Like for example, grocery list makers, translators, finance apps etc are all productivity apps.

News Apps:
The sharing function is the most important feature of a news app. These apps spread virally through providing strong content to a mass audience. ZNet, News Stand, Educational apps etc are some of the examples of news apps.

Entertainment apps:
Face Juggler, Talking Ted, Baldify and Pimp My Screen are some of the examples of entertainment apps which are developed and designed to entertaining the mass audience.

Games apps:
Now who in this world is not fond of apps? In fact most of us love to play games in our mobile device in spare time. So here plays its role the Games apps. Angry Birds, Cut The Buttons, Sudoku etc are some of the examples of Games apps.
Utilities apps
Calculators, note pads, communication apps, weather apps, etc are some of the examples of utilities apps which we carry with us and which help us in performing some simple and easy tasks. In simple terms it can be said that these types of apps are those which we utilize for some task.
How to monetize various types of your apps? :
Now that you are aware of the various app types, it is all up to you to decide which type of app you will choose as yours, which type of app will you make as a business model. Yes, I say business model, because apps are the best source of making money. So, decide your app type and go for your apps and monetize them so that you may be able to earn some good revenue through your apps.
Now again, when you are opting for monetizing your apps, make your target audience set. For example if you are targeting youth people, then go for monetizing entertainment apps, if you your target audience is the kids group, then it is better to go for Games apps.
Now how to monetize or how to make money from apps? This question comes with following option
· You can sell your apps at a higher price to other businesses
· You can go for in-app advertisements
So, now that you are aware of various types of apps and how to go for monetizing app; try your apps. As simple as that!
