Most Important Features in a Mobile Site Builder/Theme/Template?

by PaulintheSticks 2 replies
There's such a wide variance in features offered by different products and being a newbie, I'm having a hard time figuring out what's most important.

I really wonder how much value some of those features are to business owners. Are most of them even going to understand or care? Or are they going to be happy with a site that just does all the basics?

If you care to list what you consider the most important or deal-breaker features or your thoughts on this topic in general, I'd appreciate hearing.

    Hi Paul,

For me the biggest concern of any business owner should be the return of investment and how is this persons mobile site that he/she is trying to sell going to make me money - let alone cover the cost of what he/she is charging me.

A good mobile experience should ease that path to converting new customers and provide repeat engagement so they continue to spend money with the business owner.

Business owners we find don’t necessarily understand the technology so to sell them a mobile site then it’s really your job to educate and explain to them why they need a mobile site and why they are potentially losing business by not having one.

A hands on approach demonstrating the basic features of a mobile site will no doubt better help them understand the value of what they are getting.

There's all types of cool things you can add to help convert visitors, but you have to make sure that you don't lose sight of keeping the overall mobile experience the best it can be. Many features are often only compatible for certain types of mobile devices, or cause problems with older models.

The biggest cause of bounce rate is page load speed - you can provide all kinds of bells and whistles but at the end of the day if its not easy to use for the end mobile user your more likely to turn that visitor away than convert them.

You have to do your homework and understand the pro's and con's of everything you choose to use.

    Hope that helps.

Sorry, I am too busy helping people to think of a cool signature!
