Worddpress Website to Mobile App?
Share on:

Is there a way to convert a Wordpress website into a mobile app (android and apple) that can be viewed offline?

As in the website actually gets stored on the app. Meaning the user can click the app button on their mobile device and the website it surfable even when disconnected from the internet.

Not sure, this would mean transfering the wordpress database to the app as well.

Then there is the issue of updating the app when new content is added to the wordpress site.

I am not sure if you can do this automatically but even if you do, you're probably going to get a complete copy of your website which is against the apple guidelines. I would suggest to hire an app developer.

There are quite a few plugins that can help do this pretty well. The best ones are unfortunately the paid plugins but there are some really good free ones. Best way to find one is try a couple out.

Checkout Host Info Hub for your hosting reviews, NarrowURL for your url shortening, Media Blog Stuff for your next media article, and Shane Strong for your WordPress development needs.

This is not impossible but how it is done may change considerably depending on which type of site you want to do that. A static business site? A blog? A forum? A news portal? This wouldn't be a wise thing to do for an interactive site like a blog. How would the user post a comment while browsing the site offline?

Is this a client request or your wish to have such an app for a specific website? I can understand from a visitor's point that he/she may want to download the whole site and read it offline (if that is an info site) but from the client's point I don't see that a nice choice to have a downloadable website. The point of a website is that it is always online and it is always changeable by its owner.
