30 Day Mobile Marketing Challenge Journal
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Wuzzup Warrior Forum. I'm taking a stab at mobile CPA marketing and decided to make a journal for everyone to follow my progress. I also created a blog where I also post this if you wanted to bookmark it there. I started a few days ago, but wanted to hear from the community as well.

Here's my goals for it..
1. make two new campaigns every day for 30 days
2. ???
3. PROFIT

i'm a PPC OG.. so mobile should be fun.

Check out day 1:

Day 1

I’m posting for 30 days STRAIGHT all the work I’m doing online to gain some serious momemtum and start getting my ass into gear into making money online. I’m hoping people out there will follow my journey and my success and take action themselves.

What I’m working on is mobile CPA marketing. For the n00bz out there, it’s basically sending paid traffic from people browsing the internet on their cell phones to offers where I will paid anywhere from $.xx to $xx.xx per action on what someone does. It can be anything from games, ringtones, quizzes, whatever. There are a ton of offers available on different CPA networks that I’m able to promote so what I’m basically doing in this challenge is selecting any two offers that I find that could be profitable and launching, launching, launching as long as I have the cash flow.

So today, I launched two different offers in two different countries:

Columbia
Mexico
I took pre-made banners through my affiliate network and ran all the sizes available on a Latin American based mobile traffic source (it’s a secret right now!). I deposited $100 a few days ago on there, but now both campaigns should be approved tomorrow. These campaigns were based on around GAMES and MUSIC. Both of these verticals I know do well because many people like this kind of stuff on their phones.

The payouts were kinda low, but the traffic cost was pretty low as well. I’m going to give the numbers on profits/losses tomorrow as they come in. I’m hoping to get some decent volume for tomorrow on these offers as this particular network required me to set the amount of money for each campaign spend around $100 total. I also opened the “flood gates” per say and allowed all types of cell phones to bring in traffic for both of these to see where the volume is.

I might actually be pretty low on money here for the next few days, I just looked at my bank account and realized I have been being SLAUGHTERED. Whole Foods is ridiculously expensive and I buy all my food there. I really don’t want to sacrifice going completely broke, but I’m willing to put in another $300-$400 for the rest of the month for the next few days as I get paid at the end of the money and I’ll be good for it so no worries my people. Plus my tax return will be back in the next month or so…

Action Plan

I’m going to be monitoring these two campaigns very closely for the next few days. These are both direct linked campaigns and if I start losing a big chunk of change, I’m going to pause and move on. If I am at least breaking even or not losing too much, I’ll keep them running.

Tomorrow, I’m going to research new offers and find a new mobile network to run on. I may take these same campaigns and run them on another network, or I will try to find new campaigns in another bigger country with higher payouts. Either way, I need to deposit at least $100 somewhere else tomorrow.

It’s 1AM and I have to wake up tomorrow for my “regular” job. I’m going to make this blog look a little nicer and pass out. Hell yes to Day 1.

Day 2: $0 Earned // $0 Spend

So I had two campaigns launched and waiting for approval over in a Latin American based network that were supposed to go live today. I receive a phone call today from an ad representative there today and she says to me, Hello, I saw you are trying to add campaigns, do you have tracking? I tell her I have tracking that will look at everything from carrier, to device, to every bit of tracking info possible so I need correct traffic. She goes on to tell me that my bids are way too low for the campaigns.

Get this: about 2 or 3 weeks ago, I got an email from this network saying the traffic I was targeting (Columbia and Mexico) were hovering around $.03 CPC and today all of a sudden they jumped up to $.18 to $.25 per click. Shocking once I deposit my money things can change so much. Anyway, I asked her to send me top volume countries along with CPC numbers and carrier information and haven’t heard from her yet. (It’s around 2AM here now and I talked to her around 10AM the day before -_-) I made a tweet (Follow me kids, I just made it today) where I said ad reps only want your money and ding ding ding.. so right. I might just get my money back from this network if possible.

So with this network flaking on me, of course I had to find some new traffic to spice up some offers on. I headed over to a mobile network I know you’ve heard of and I setup a campaign there with just $50 to see if there was any chance of volume to come through. If there is, I will launch a few more campaigns. I got a list of their top volume countries (It’s as simple as going to a mobile network website and emailing them for what traffic they have where) and I’ll see what I can do with it.

But I didn’t want to stop there. Last month I actually generated around $500 ish in revenue through mobile and I was taking a look at my campaigns from last month tonight. You see, many ad networks don’t really know how to put the throttle on your traffic, so they send you A LOT of stuff that you don’t need or is junk. Thankfully, there’s actually some honest mobile ad networks that will only charge you for what you want. I didn’t really connect the dots on this one, but I took a look at my stats in the ad network itself and realized I was profiting (not much though) on a few small campaigns I made.

I restarted a few campaigns on this ad network I’ve used in the past and launched a bunch of goodies. I put up SIX (count em.. SIX yeah baby) campaigns through a few new countries around the globe. I launched two or three different campaigns per country in order to try to maximize my CTR to get some of dat volume. I’m all ready seeing money start to roll through on one campaign and I have 4 that need to be approved.

What I have running now

One campaign on a latin american based network ad network 1 where prices have been increased dramatically, I will probably cash out unless my ad rep shows me some fair CPC or CPM prices in different countries they have available
One campaign setup in ad network 2 with only $50 to test the volume waters to see if anything good comes through
Six campaigns launched in ad network 3 where I had previous success last month. I made a $100 deposit here to get the ball rolling.
I’m purposely leaving out info on what I’m doing exactly… I can’t let the world steal my campaigns before they get good, eh? But if they fail.. I’ll show ya the goods.

Action Plan

Tomorrow I’m going to keep launching in ad network 3 because I have a lot of split testing, ads, and pages I can run there and the traffic is there. My goal is to get the highest CTR banners I can to start sending some serious VOLUME to these offers so I can hit my $500 revenue mark. I’m thinking roughly I might break $50 to $100 in revenue tomorrow, but will most likely break even or profit a little.

I’m also thinking about writing some of these 30 day guides over on Warrior Forum or Black Hat World or a few forums to get more readers. Like my facebook page and my twitter page as I’m going to be posting on there and stuff. Subscribe to get the posts if you want also, but they will be coming everyday so just get on social media it will be less annoying.

I’m going to be posting stats as the previous day due to my traffic numbers being confused with actual money being spent. Tomorrow will be another “$0 earned/$0 lost” as I need to wait 24 hours for ad networks to update their traffic numbers and money being spent.

Anyway.. its 2AM here.. I have work at 8:30AM… and I’m going to go chill with my girlfriend. Follow me on twitter bitchez.

Day 3: $8.94 Spend / $18.20 Earned

Yes.. I missed two days of posting. I came home two days ago after work, and literally fell asleep at 5:30PM and woke up at 1:00AM, then continued to sleep until 8:00AM the next day for which I went to work. LOL. That’s what happens when I stay up until 3:00AM two nights in a row and goto a full time job after doing this.

Then next day I kinda let stuff run and added two more campaigns, but just didn’t post about it. So we’re going to pretend those two days didn’t exist and start today as Day 3.. and finally you see some numbers here.

So, although this looks good, I actually lost quite a bit a few days ago. I’d say roughly around $40 or $50 bucks ish on a campaign on another ad network that totally sucks. The rep never got back to me, my campaigns are taking days to be approved, and then they flood me with traffic. And then on top of that I have no idea what the hell they are sending me carrier wise because my tracking isn’t properly picking up on the carriers. -_-. I’m just going to test whatever there and let my $100 run out slowly.. at least it’s worth seeing if anything else works.

So these stats are from yesterday. Basically, I ran one of my old campaigns that I know is doing decent. Today, I duplicated it twice in my advertising network to try to get some VOLUME. I tried to run this same offer on another carrier only to see it fall FLAT. Funny how some carriers work and some don’t.. dum dum dum. On the new carrier I sent a ton of traffic only to see 1 conversion. Wack yo.. at least I know what works. The volume for this particlar country overall is weak in this network so it may not really be worth it to try other split testing, but I will do it anyway tomorrow and have some stuff queued the EFF up for Monday.

Today I launched another 4 campaigns in two new countries. I have 3 campaigns from a new country all running on different carriers, and then one other country running one carrier. I’m really hoping to see some good things because I’m basically “scaling” at this point stuff that works from my initial country to other countries where the offer is accepted also. . However.. as I learned that some carriers work and others don’t.. I’m expecting at least a few of these to fall flat on their faces.

Anyway.. leave me some comments or like me on facebook or something DAMN.. I’m not getting any love around here. I might get bored and stop posting these hot little tips and comments. Peace… I’m gonna launch a few more campaigns.. talk to ya’ll tomorrow… and hopefully I’ll have some way more spending going on.

March 6 Update: $118 Spend / $110 Revenue | SimonCash - Journey To Online Money

The 30 day challenge has been continuing.. No I haven’t been updating the blog because nothing too exciting has been happening. I’ve mostly been launching campaigns in random countries and then split testing ads to get the MAXIMUM CTR. Unfortunately, I’m meddling around with chump change and not much volume.

It’s pretty simple.. the traffic I’m sending just isn’t enough. There’s not enough VOLUME where I’m getting traffic. It’s good I’m at least generating revenue. I haven’t really done too many optimizations headset or reffer wise and just letting the traffic roll in since I’m breaking even.

I decided to add an image to the flow here so you can see some of my stats. This is for the month of March so far:

[read the post to see stats image]

The CPC on here is completely off because many mobile networks tend to send me A LOT of traffic.. more than what they are actually supposed to send. So in reality when it says I spent $125, I’m actually spending way less. Some of these campaigns are profitable, some of them are not.

I’m mostly breaking even because I keep split testing different things and trying to make it work. It takes money to make money… aaaaa? Yes, it really does, I can’t do anything without testing my ads.

So where do I go from here? I’m going to venture into building landing pages and try out some new ad networks. This is actually all from one ad network because I like them a lot, I understand their platform, I know how it works, etc etc. I’m trying to make this one traffic source work, but if they don’t have the volume I need.. then I will eventually have to move on. I’m going to at least keep making sure to keep what’s running on there running just to be generating some revenue to hit my $500 mark for the month.
