Mobile SMS Platforms
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi Warriors! I have been in the mobile marketing space for about a year now. I have used the top two platforms out there. Now I want my own. I am interested in either purchasing the software and then programming it to my own specs, or having it built outright.

My Questions:
1. Besides Lime's platform (Avid leases theirs), is there any way of purchasing a platform? I want to use my own shortcode now and not rely on another business to stay afloat.

2. I have also been using the above mentioned platforms for mobile websites; scary when you put a ton of work into a site and then think about what happens if either company goes down or out of business. I am looking for some software to build the sites and host them on my own.

3. Although I have been in the business for some time now, I still don't understand why an aggregator is needed at all. Help?

P.s. I have been reading the posts on here for a long time now, just finally joined today!

Hi there,

There are quite a few marketers out here who have either mobile site building software or just templates that you can customize easily.
If you want I can PM the links of their WSOs.

Aggregator's already have connections in place with all of the major carriers and deliver/interpret all of the messages you send from a given short code. This is what insures true carrier grade messaging with timely delivery and near perfect success ratios in sending sms messaging.

Other methods exist that hit the carriers direct. When utilizing these they can either be viewed as have latency issues, or in some cases not deliver at all (SMTP).

I see your viewpoint without a doubt, but if you go and get your own short code and rely on just one aggregator, your hands are pretty tied if that aggregator ever experiences any issues.

You really can't purchase a platform, you can simply license as a White Label Reseller unless you want to develop and build your own mobile marketing platform from scratch.

You can have your own SMS platform for nothing, just use OpenVBX along Twilio and a slew of free plugins. So many make it more complicated than it is. In 5 minutes you can put together custom apps for your clients using both SMS and voice.

As far as mobile apps go, I've had great success with pijnz. Only 5 bucks per month per site, and you can make some incredible looking mobile sites using their platform. The ability to take graphics and make hotspot links is killer. So easy to set up a professional looking mobile site.

Hey MobileMight -

I had a custom SMS platform created for me, which uses long-codes, not short-codes. If you're interested in using long-codes...shoot me a PM and I can send you some details.
