Tool for finding flash sites other than google's filetype:swf
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

Hi All,

I've been trying to build a list of prospects to go after with a mobile website offer based on their flash website not showing up on mobile devices. I have been able to identify 25 or so in my chosen niche/city. But it took a long time using google and searching with the filetype:swf switch.

I am almost sure I saw a prospecting tool somewhere that would sniff out flash sites for a given city/keyword. It seems like it was a php script that you install on your own server. but I can't be sure... I've been digging through my email trying to find any trace of an offer for something like that but found nothing good.

Anyone know of such a tool to find flash websites?

Thanks!
John

Hi,

To find these websites you can search Google for phrases such as:
"You need to upgrade your Flash Player" niche your city
"get adobe flash player" niche your city

Just keep in mind that Apple devices are the only ones that do not support flash. Apple have now been overtaken by Android in number of units sold and so that means your typical prospect is actually using an Android device (that supports flash) over an Apple device (that does not support flash).

So if you approach a prospect on the basis of telling them their website does not work on mobile devices, if they go and check it on their Android device or any other device other than an Apple, they will see their flash just fine and will think you were just misleading them to make a sale. This will instantly destroy your reputation.

So if you are going to go this route make it clear that it is only the Apple devices on which the flash does not work. It's still a perfectly valid reason to use but just make it clear to them so you don't come off looking like a slimy marketer.
