Qr codes basics

So I am about to wrap(4k investment and it is the second one, the first is 8 years old and does not have a qr code.) a car with my business info that is parked were people will walk by and scan a qr code. I should also tell you that I live in a small town of 15k, that is a resort area and I am a chiropractor. I would like to generate a qr code that is dynamic( I can change the url or change it to a phone number or a v-card, etc). It seems that the url will be shortened so that this is possible. I have visited sites that issue these for free but have been having trouble changing this on https://azonmobile.com. No help from the website there chat does not work. I would like to analyze the people that use it but not as important as being able to change where people get directed. Also concerned about the longevity of the qr code, once created could I have problems with its use in 5 years, like if the company goes out of business? Do you have a site that you suggest? Would like free but willing to pay. Is there a format and size of qr code that will work best. Also any insights into the future of qrcoding? Should have a catchy phase like "for more info" next to it? Thanks here is the car with the image I cannot modify.

I have found 2 sites qrstuff.com and kaywa and am thinking about giving those a try

if you want to keep the image of the QR code when its on your van, but just change the destination url you can use wp plugins easy enough.

Wow, that wrap is an excellent advert to your business, and a qr code with a call to action perhaps "scan for coupon" or "scan for details" would certainly encourage people to take immediate action.

However you need to direct visitors to mobile friendly pages which are easy to navigate and which enable them to do their required action, which might be as simple as "click to call", or enable them to pull up a map to find you, request a callback, join your mailing list or send you a message.

I've just pulled up your website on my cell/mobile phone and at the moment that doesn't work for me as it is too small to navigate, and needs to be stretched, and there is too much information for a mobile user.

That is not a problem, as there is a simple fix. If you are happy with your main website, keep it as it is, but create a different home page and simple mobile-friendly website which visitors who are using a smartphone will be seamlessly redirected to by a code on your site.

I’d be happy to put together a no obligation demo site for you, so you can see how this might work.

I understand your concern about a shortened QR code becoming obsolete. I use a service where customers have their own login and are able to view detailed analytics (time and location of scans, pages viewed, device used etc) You also have total control to re-direct the qr code whenever you wish.

for QR codes to really take off, QR code auto recognition needs to be built into the phones camera software to eliminate the need to download an app and fire it up every time you want to scan a QR.

If you are doing a car wrap, make sure you get real creative and not just your contact info etc... take a look at the offline thread with the plumber truck wrap of a graphic on the driver door of the guys lower body sitting on a toilet. He's got to get tons of attention.

Something creative related to chiro, maybe its a graphic on your door of a lower half skeleton or person sitting on a seat w/ a red sore spot. "sore back?, scan this for relief!"

Now this is getting into the realms of digital signage.....

Uneeqle has a great QR app, they let you choose the color of the QR, as well as insert your logo into the center, so humans can see what it is about before they even scan it!

It's just these threads are specifically what the service offers, but no I am just happy they finally launched.

Tried bluetooth marketing a year ago. It was a flop. People don't trust it and won't allow the connection. Out of thousands of people the results were dismal.

If you want a dynamic qr code then absolutely don't use a 3rd party solution. You should do it on your own website that way you have control over it always. It's quite simple. Just create a page on your website and put redirect code in it. Then create a QR code for that page on your website. You can then edit the redirect code to send people to whatever url you like.

I have developed a management dashboard for our QR codes that allow you to program a playlist of URL's so that each time you scan it, you get new content delivery. We also have a calendar for scheduling too. Complete with all the tracking, etc.
