Hi, I was dropping a cousin of mine at the station and a guy dropped one of his luggages and I helped him pick it up and helped him to his trolley. We started talking and I found out he is a VP of one of the most popular mobile Networks (I mean actual Mobile Phone Network like T-Mobile, AT&T, Verison etc in another country) (with over 60% market share in that country) in one of the countries where almost everybody uses a mobile phone and the country has no law or regulation at all on text marketing or blasting etc. This fellow asked me to come up with my proposition for how he can help me succeed. This is a great opportunity and I don't want to blow it. These guy is ready to give me access to the mobile users and their numbers etc My question to the experienced warriors, marketers, app developers etc here is, which of the following should I approach this guy with? Could it be: 1. Can I blast the users list with offers, company products, services etc 2. Can I introduce apps to be pre-loaded on to their customers' handset or have them blast their customer with alerts to download the apps. 3. Other ideas from you experienced warriors I really need your advice on the above and any other ideas you may have. Thanks EDIT: I have had some PMs from people thinking I was talking about a Mobile Ad Network for CPA. No NO No. I mean an actual Mobile Phone Network like T-Mobile, AT&T, Verison etc in another country. This is why this is such a huge one that I don't want to blow. |

You could try an geo target users, restaurants in X city, contact restaurants and ask them to advertise, then blast the mobile users with offers over a set period of time - not all at once.

Are you SURE he meant that you could get access to their customer base when he asked you to come up with a proposition? It sounds a bit odd for a VP of any company to give a relative stranger free reign just to market 'whatever' to their customers. I'd check with him again before suggesting anything to be honest... |

His proposal is too easy especially coming from a VP. I agree that you have to be sure 101% before giving out anything.

It does sound odd, but when I've been in the US, I came across all types of people including one of the VP at Disney! The guy could be after using his position to influence you to give free advice. Are you sure his is the VP?? |

As you said, I will speak with him again to confirm. Thanks
Moreover, I have checked him out online he is truly whom he said he is. His title & position all tallied. One more thing, he asked me during our conversation if I knew any of the big brands in that country, which to me implies he might want access to the big brands for sms blasting but not wanting to be the one to suggest such things to the brands. My next move should be to propose something with the end result thrown at him but not the nuances and ingredients. Any help on how to do this will be appreciated. Thanks | |||

VP doenst really mean anything. Is he a Senior VP or Corporate Senior VP? He might be a VP of a small division...doesnt really matter. Big corporations might have over 200 people with the title VP. C-level people are the ones you want. They report to the CEO. CFO, CIO, CTO, etc.

| UPDATE This fella confirms he'll open access to the whole database of customers using the tel network. Him and his team wants a cut of what I get from milking the database. Now the catch is I have to cover cost of pushing communication to the database (huge database). My thoughts I'll test small and keep you updated. By the way I don't have to use his tel network to send text if going that route. Though seems like he's after a big blast to the database. |
