It seems some rules have changed for Google Play Developers. It would be wise to check with any online 'app' building services that what they are offering is not against any of these rules. Also be wary of buying reviews on fiverr etc..

Do not use irrelevant, misleading, or excessive keywords in apps descriptions, titles, or metadata.

Developers must not attempt to change the placement of any Product in the Store, or manipulate any product ratings or reviews, by unauthorized means such as fraudulent installs, paid or fake reviews or ratings, or by offering incentives to rate products.

Apps that are created by an automated tool or wizard service must not be submitted to Google Play by the operator of that service on behalf of other persons.

Do not post an app where the primary functionality is to:

Drive affiliate traffic to a website or
Provide a webview of a website not owned or administered by you (unless you have permission from the website owner/administrator to do so)

And this one to be implemented on 22 September means I have to change the advertising method for the app example in my sig and submit an updated version to the store:

Apps and their ads must not add homescreen shortcuts, browser bookmarks, or icons on the user’s device as a service to third parties or for advertising purposes

Even if you ask for permission to add these icons (as my app does) its not allowed.

I make a full living from app store optimization and your post is great mate. Just wait... Google play will be waking up soon and will be sweep out of the store thousands of crappy, spammy sites.... sooner or later tiny automatic apps will be history.

That should all be common knowledge, but people will continue to abuse it until they can't make any new accounts.

If you want to make money from the app store you gotta be smarter than just creating some junk app with an affiliate redirect.

I don't think those low quality apps will be going away anytime soon, theres still window of time that GPlay will stay the wild wild west. I would never use an android phone for personal use, so incredibly insecure, cannot believe they have so much market share, android is a complete shit show

It's all about adapting to change.

I provide android reviews. Now i use extra precaution and provide review from phone verified profiles with images, unique ip and device id.

It's just like google updates. they will keep coming, but seo will never die
