Thoughts on marketing mobile sites/apps.

I would like your comments on how you market mobile websites and apps, the reason being was I called a prospect yesterday who had responded to an email campaign and they where so furious that we had not included a price in the email, so when I told him the price he could not wait to pay...the conversation went like this.

Prospect - How much is your offering?
Me - $XXX
Prospect - Are you sure?
Me - Yes and it includes 12 month hosting, up to 5 pages, logo, tap to call, tap to email, tap for directions etc.
Customer - OK, I want to order it.
Me - OK, I will take a deposit of $XX and create a mock up then when you are happy after 2 revisions with the design, we have hosted it and then we will bill you the balance, is that OK?
Customer - Definitely.
Me - took deposit
Customer - If you had have put that price in the email, I know tonnes of business owners who would have taken up the offer - so why no price in the email?
Me - We liked talking to people!
Me - Would you recommend us to any of your business owner buddies?
Customer - Hell sure I will.
--

The campaign we have been using was sent out to 753 prospects in California and we had 59 inquiries for mock ups, out of the 59 - 41 turned to orders.

We have 2 teams in the business, the first team is cold calling and the second we started 2 weeks ago are emailing. We know that the cold calling works we have had huge success with it, all sales is a numbers game we thought we would also try email - nothing lost, nothing gained...

We are now split testing some emails - 50% with prices and the rest without.

This is to a niche that is virtually untapped and the price was $499 (obviously I will not divulge the niche)

What are your thoughts.

Dexter.

Hi,

I got the leads using Mobile Renegade - it's awesome! We also use a credit company that you can download detailed credit reports such as owners, CEO's, Managing Directors etc, their email address, website turnover, number of staff and mobile numbers

Hello Dex,

I'm doing cold calling here for Mobile Websites, the key in my market and niche is create a Mobile Website for the bigger ones, then go to the competitor and tell them that they already have mobile presence and invite them to see it is true.

I also ask for video testimonials to the bigger ones, so I paste video links in proposals, quotes...that have increased my conversions.

In my opinion your are doing well, cold calling is the best method for get sales.

Hope this helps.
