Pricing Mobile Sites - what business pay?
Share on:

With all the free mobile site offers online when you search for it over Google, what value is realistic to close a deal for setup and then monthly?

I thought about $199 then $39 month (I have a Duda Reseller License and other builders).

I ask this as the ones I did till now have been very basic free ones and part of a website deal, so I didn't sold solely mobile sites.

Here is the ridiculous easy way to make a basic, mobile ready page.

You need a responsive WP theme and a free plugin called WPTOUCH.

Then you have to setup a page (I name mine "mobile") with a header image in the page body (logo and some image or text) because the website header will not be displayed.

Below that header image you put some very basic copy, the usual in a mobile site. Not the place to read a lot or look at many images.

You can make simple "tab to" images and make them clickable, or do it like I did it over text links, see my business site here Mobile | Piso Vinilico Rio de Janeiro - Renovart (access it over a mobile device).

It's easy to make "click to call" links or "click to email" links with HTML code.

All of what you put at that page has to be centered.

You can design that page the way you like but think always about the limited space at a mobile device.

The plugin let you pick any page at your site to work as the mobile page.

You can not make mobile sites with this only a mobile page, more for local businesses to give to visitors a mobile optimized page with a call to action for a phone or email contact.

Tks

I usually charge in the high hundreds depending on how many pages they need then I give them exceptional service and a great hassle free experience with loads of contact and care. I tried competing with the bottom dwellers but to do that I had to become a bottom dwellers and it stinks down there so I came back into the real world for fresh air and never been back down there ever since.

If a small business senses you're too cheap they often shy away knowing you won't be in business for too long at those prices (I had a client tell me this) and they want us to be around for problems and support.

Thanks for the reply but as English isn't my first language, is that 199, 499 or 999?

And do you setup their mobile site at a subdomain or external like DudaMobile?

External will need a monthly retainer, right?

More often closer to $1,000 than $100.

I never host websites (people think you are their slave for a few dollars a month they pay you) and when I sell a website I install it on a server of their choice and then it's all theirs to do with as they like.

Depending on your plan/package, prices can be from $200 up.

Friendly advice, useful tips...

I agree with the hosting comment: they want a lot for little reward. I did a mobile site for a client in the $100 range, thinking I would get the monthly maintenance deal. No. Get the agreement up front.

A question which I also would like to know. Guess you have to find clients which don't know how to use Google for comparison.

A personal friend of mine, only hosts websites and makes $37,000 profit every month...I wouldn't mind being a slave if this is a 'few dollars'

Selling too cheap lowers the value for everyone! We who sell at $1000+ can afford to lower our pricing, but it is much more difficult increasing prices!

We choose not to focus on the smaller jobs that are a few hundred, we did at first and we got: 'my cousin is creating a mobile site for us...' when you are dealing with businesses owners who turn over a few million rather than your smaller corner shops, they understand the costs involved and are willing to pay top dollar.

Perceived value is much higher when you offer a high price service and people take you seriously.
