I want to jump into the SMS business too. I know that I can use Twilios api and a sms application to start my business but I always feel that charging my potential clients to send sms AND to also receive a reply from potential customers vis sms is just not fair. and not to mention it can get real expensive for local business people..why should they have to pay a free to receive ? For those of you who are already out their selling sms services to local business people..how do client feel when they realize they gotta pay both for incoming and outgoing? does the charge for incoming deter alot of customers? Do they even realize that they are paying to send messages to their group as well as to receive a reply from people in their groups? How do the react to that? I would really appreciate any feedback from people who are already out there offering this.. This forum and the people in it are AWESOME thanks in advance |

Don't make it harder than it is. It cost's 3/4 cent for incoming and 3/4 cent for out going. That's 1-1/2 cent for each sms. That's $15 for 1000 text messages. Charge accordingly or competitive. Sell them a package of 2000 SMS messages per month for $149. your cost would be $30. That wound make you $119 a month on that package per client. This is just a scenario of course but don't over compliment the deal. |

Most SMS Marketing platforms using Twillio only send outgoing text! The only time an incomming sms is used is for signups! Its a service and your the provider and you have two options. 1) You charge monthly fee 2) You setup Twillio for them and they pay their own monthly charge! When they understand how it works they love it, cost isnt an issue! |
