I used to be cheap!

Hey guys...

I was just wondering what my fellow mobile marketers are charging these days. I haven't done a site in about 6 months...and I think that was too cheap. I charged someone else about $497 for a 9 page site.

I have a new client and I don't know what to charge as I usually don't do this kind of work. I don't want to insult the new client...so can anybody give me an idea here. Thanks.

Go WF!

We charge anything from £250 for a single page to £1500 for a 20 + page mobile site. We find trying to offer the 'cheapest price' back fired and it put potential buyers off, as they thought the low price would bring a low quality mobile site!

We offer mobile optimized websites at http://mobilewebsitecreationltd.co.uk/

Holy Camoly! The "natural" impulse, when starting a project for the first time is to go "el-cheapo" HOWEVER...from the first time I "quoted" my Fee to now....I look at 3 things;

1) What are others charging for similar
2) What can I charge to make it worth MY while
3) Then...doubling the number

Yes....you WILL get rejections AND....you WILL get Buyers!

And the one thing that has stuck with me for over 30 yrs of Sales is....the "Cheapies" will Cost You MORE in "Time & Materials"!

Don Alm.....STILL proposing "High-Dollar" fees and.....getting them

$497 is ok for a smaller site (up to 5 pages) if they have everything ready and you're not waiting on content or server settings...etc. Personally with mobiles I always use whole numbers - never anything ending in a 7,8, or 9) but you can probably do ok raising your price to anything in the hundreds. If you want to attempt charging over $1,000 for a proper mobile site you'll need to establish lots of value and/or trust early on.
