Best way to find mobile website clients?
Share on:

There are so many awesome tools out to build mobile websites for clients but how do you find the clients? I've sent out 100's of emails to businesses that did not have a mobile site but didn't get any bites. Any one care to share how they are landing mobile website clients?

Thanks

the best way to find mobile clients is to start local and physically visit the places you have selected. another thing you may want to consider is changing your subject and or email script, as well as switching up different approaches. To be honest with you its hard to believe you have sent hundreds and gotten NO conversions. if this is the case then there is definitely a problem with your approach. although i no longer use this approach, i did see some success with it, though it came only after i had tried different scripts and subject lines. I wasn't sending out hundreds though, just 10 a day. and they were hyper targeted, meaning i did a little research into each business before i actually wrote to them. i converted about 3 out the whole week, and decided to try a completely different approach which was physically walking in local businesses and presenting my service. i think if you are serious that's a good place to start!

Bad idea IMO.

I've been doing emailing with low to none converting (change scripts and business target).
I've done walk in store: same very low conversion, waste my time, money (parking fees, fuel...) Most say they have a website and don't need mobile or have responsive site or not interested. This is true experience, I will not hype mobile to make people think it's the lotto business.
I've done classified ads, facebook ads, google ads....you name it.

How many times I've seen a client and said great, they want one then never call back or did not want it anymore? This too is on my list.

I was so enthusiast to have business owners saying I want one, have an appointment but finally ends with some words you don't want to hear like, I will use free mobile site builder or use duda or Godaddy have free mobile site with standard site.....
Sometime you are so angry that you want to scream at them "so why you were interested last time I saw you then not anymore? I think they try to get smarter than you and browse the web for mobile site design for cheap!
You've got the idea, they steal it, then go elsewhere to build it.

Price was not the barrier neither was the speech with marketing materials.

I'm sure most of you in my situation will simply drop it, will be disappointed and do something else.

But I'm best at mobile web design and marketing and also love this job so I keep on finding clients from almost a year now with low success rates.

Since I've start a new marketing approach I've got a client this week and looks like it's working.

The secret? Contacting local businesses that advertise in your local newspaper.
Why? They have a marketing and ad budget!

totally agree with this comment - face to face produces better results in sales like these, and even web hosting and SEO services.

I know a doctor that is paying 3000 British pounds for a wordpress website (very basic) - thats around $6000 US dollars - pretty awesome if you ask me. It only worked well, because it was face to face - and it was handled in a professional way, as well as the client was a high earner (doctor lawyers etc is a good market to aim at in your local area especially!).

Trial and errors will improve you so dont try to be perfect in first go - aim to start presenting - and maybe doing some for very cheap to get references. and always go the extra mile with these people, as they always bring more customers.

First let me just say that it sounds like there where a couple obvious problems with what you were doing. First is you shouldn't go into a business and get suprised with " I already got", as a marketer its your job to already know what they have and don't have. You shouldn't just be walking into random businesses trying to sell something. At least uave the decency to learn something about the business so you will know what to exect.
Second, the follow up is equal important. Dont be a passive salesman, it will get you know where. Learn to be assertive and persistent. Follow up yourself with business that you contact. Especially if they say they are interested. Most of my sales have come the secnd or third time around. And lastly, KNOW YOU PRODUCT. If you ket an owner tell you they dnt need your service and you know they do, you probably shouldn't be marketing. And as far as doing it on their own and stealing your Idea, you have to be selling more than they can go and find any one place. Learn to bundle services and offer real value based on your expertise, something that can't be duplicated.
And one last thing. Its not what you do its how you do it. Everything marketing is trial and error. You have to put yourself in a position to be able to learn from your mistakes. Like with email marketing, what kinda tracking or measuring did you do? Do you know, how many businesses where women how many men? What demographic they serve? Did you have software to show you which subject lines got opened? Etc. Etc. The problem I had as a newbie marketer was not knowing how to quantify or qualify my efforts... if you don't know what you did wrong how could you get it right the next time?

Chances are you're doing everything right. The only thing that may be missing is a broader chance for the public to really get a taste of which you are. You need to build relationships with these folks.
What may not help you, but come on. . .What may not help you, but come on. . . If I run into find mobile website clients approach I will tell you later.

smartsites, have you tried hosting a webinar? It works good for many mobile marketing companies, retention rate is about 40%. Hope that helps.

Friendly advice, useful tips...
