How do you explain to the small business owner the difference from their business website and a mobile site? why would they need it anyway?

Because smart phones are being used by their customers more and more (and MORE!) to find them (stats vary) and if the mobile experience is poor they will click away and take their money with them. If nothing else, their site looks shite and do they want their business to look shite or to look good?

In my experience it's a matter of pride as often as it's a matter of good business sense. If their normal website looked crap would they want help with that? It's the same thing, only we/you/me specialise in the mobile experience.

Today there are about 1 billion people that own a computer in the world. But the big difference is, today more than 5 billion people own a mobile phone in the world. This shows how mobile marketing can have an impact in your business by reaching more customers. Mobile phones started to be used more and more every passing day as they become more and more like computers.

You can number the advantages of mobile websites to business owners. You can use this info if it will help:

- You'll appear in search engine database, which allows new users to find you;

- With your mobile-friendly website, you simply update the content through your content management system.

- Programming changes will only affect the server, no updates for your customers are needed;

- A native mobile application requires a separate version for each different phone platform.

-A mobile friendly website is viewable for almost any smartphone with a standard browser.

People are browsing websites on the their more and more these days. If your site is not responsive (mobile friendly) and has a messy display on their phone they will probably exit out and go else where.

Thanks for all the great replies guys..so just to clarify..

A business website is too big and messy to fit on a smart phone etc, the mobile website is the condensed version enabling the customer to see all info of the business to make purchase etc.

A simple solution would be to use a Responsive theme because they resize to fit any device size. So they open full screen for computers and laptops and resize to fit tablets, ipads, netbooks and mobile devices!

In an ideal world this will be the norm. The problem is that currently nearly all "responsive" websites look atrocious on a smart phone but if you can find one that doesn't treat the mobile user with contempt and it looks magnificent, is useful and effective on a smart phone without annoying the user then yeah, go for it...and send me the link because I'd love to see it.

A subdomain would do http://m.yourwebsite.com or http://yourwebsite.com/mobile

You don't want to lose sales that's why businesses needs mobile websites.

Just one thing, I noticed that the videos do not adapt to mobile screens. Do you find this a problem, have any prospects commented, especially on the mobile websites one? If they do ask what do you say

I do not mean any offence, just wanted to make sure before I think of buying them.
I found the video as is adapts to 90% of phones, however:

you have 3 options
1) create two differant versions with differant size videos 1) reg site 2) mobile site
2) create one with a small video and allow full screen
3) Make the video iframe video responsive to fit to screen by changing height and width to 100% instead of using pixels!

You can change the height and width of the video in the iframe code
