If you are using AdMob, make sure you update by August 1

Those of you using AdMob to monetize your apps, make sure to update to the new AdMob by August 1 or your ads will quit displaying. I recently upgraded my account and am not pleased with many of the changes:

No longer can be paid via PayPal, have to instead go EFT or receive a check.

Also, have to republish all of my apps with the updates in order for ads to continue displaying.

All house ads will automatically be paused and need to be re-created.

This does not impact me specifically, but the new upgrade combines AdSense and AdWords accounts with your AdMob account. This could be a problem for any developers who have had other accounts terminated. The new TOS dictate that if you have had any of those accounts disabled, you will no longer be able to use AdMob.

Anything else you guys have noticed with the update? I have been working through my apps, republishing and just hoping that on August 1, all my ads will be displaying properly. Google claims that the upgrade should increase earnings by 10-20% because their new algorithm will be able to place more relevant ads in your apps.

Thanks for this post!

In fact Google has mandated the use of AID come August 1st. So all Android app devs make sure you do this. This is what they say in their developer content guidelines:

"“Beginning August 1st 2014, all updates and new apps uploaded to the Play Store must use the advertising ID (when available on a device) in lieu of any other device identifiers for any advertising purposes.”

My adsense account was terminated so I'm done with Admob. I figured Google would shut me down at some point, that's why I stopped making apps several months ago. Really PO'd!!
