I want to know what everyone thinks brings millionaires into their success. What drives them to work as hard as they do? Please post opinions!

Some people just love what they do and are good at it, and when you're in a job like that its easy to kick butt in it!

Gotta agree with Matt - when you love what you do so much that it gives you a rush, you can't help but be successful at it.

January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.

That's not completely true, Kay. He's actually UNABLE to manage anything but brevity.

I'd be a millionare right now - just lacking a little cash is all.

Becoming a millionaire is not so much a process, but rather a mindset that involves positive thinking, confidence, goal-setting, achievement, happiness and success. You must first develop a millionaire mindset.
It's very similar to the billionaire mindset, but without so much of the emphasis on focus, desire, passion, hard work and being driven to achieve.

              That's just my 2 cents.

Short (1 week) , medium (1 month), long-term (1 year) goals written down, but most importantly I think it all has to start with a written plan.

      Luck and timing.

The best definition I know for the word LUCK is where preperation and opportunity meet at a crossroad. Timing is showing up at that crossroad at the same moment opportunity shows up.

If you read up on how some of the self-made millionaires became wealthy, or made their money, you will see this pattern.

All those other attributes mentioned such as hard work, goal setting, passion, etc are part of the preparation equation.

But without luck and timing on your side you won't see pay dirt. In the oil business they call it a dry hole...

I like every response so far. So now let me ask you a simple question. If so many of us have a good idea on what it takes to be millionaires. Then why are we not millionaires ourselves? Is it the system(government), is it the economy, or is it simply that there is way more to it than simply knowing how? Is it a combination of all the above responses? Or is the only thing holding all of us back our minds.

It's a mindset alright MYOB - I've known many and could have married a few - but they are sooo driven sometimes it's hard to deal with at some levels. Of course, their work is not "work" it's a lifestyle - they are in love with it and can't imagine not spending most of their time on it.........sometimes even after they reach a point they could do nothing for the rest of their lives they can't kick back. It's just too much a part of them to leave it alone.

Not saying there is anything wrong with that. If I were to ever hit a fortune rockhounding, it sure wouldn't stop me from doing more of it.

Thank you sal! And MYOB you have a valid point, but perhaps on the level of millionaires vs. billionaires, it is not so much how they are driven, but the opportunities placed before them. I can be willing to do whatever I must to get to the billion dollar point; yet when dealing with sums of money that large, a chance to grab an opportunity does not come so often. So we now know that millionaires are a creation not only of circumstance, but also thier own inner workings. So, can just anyone gain the mindset to become a millionaire? Do all of us posess this hidden trait? And even though we know that millionaires are OFTEN driven... What is the one common driving force that ALL millionaires share? I have gotten a lot of very intelligent responses. Keep up the good thinking!!!

    Passion + action + determination + a willingness to get uncomfortable= Success!

I could have added a lot more things but, no one can come up with any one formula for success. It is always different for each person. What someone views as a person's success may not be another person's success. Its all relative...

I do believe that focusing on being an ace in your place will make you much more successful then worrying about what brought success for another person.

Thank you Tym! This little social experiment turned out pretty well. All of the answers were VERY intelligent! And here at the end Tym has nailed it down. There is NO formula for success! There is no guarantee that, even if we do everything in our power, PLUS SOME, that we will be rich or go far in life. But here is the point behind all of this: The only thing that really matters is that we do all we can and give it our best shot, we can no more control our ultimate place on the totem pole, society has gotten almost too big for an individual to make a mark in any business. Not to say that it cannot be done, or that it is not done often, but I know that even though I can posses all of the thought processes, and motivations of Bill Gates, even if I could think exactly the way he does, and see things from his perspective; I may never get anywhere near the point where he is. The hard part is, once you have made that realization(this is what separates millionaires from us all) you must continue on as if you never realized it. If you think you will fail, then you may as well give up. If you think you might fail, quit now and work at burger king forever, but if you feel in your heart that no matter what happens, everything will be okay, then that gives you the ability to take the necessary risks with ease and confidence. Being relaxed and having confidence may not make you rich, but I will tell you now; unless you inherit a fortune or win the lottery, you will NEVER get there without those two traits, Patience and Confidence... Thank you all!

They just work hard with full confidence and loyalty. This is the secret to their success. But in our country the richest people earned their money by stealing. Can you believe it?

I know the guy that started the costcutter franchise in the UK and some of Europe (corner shops). He has over 1200 now and is named in the UK annual rich list. He's worth about £120m ($200). I asked him once what drove him on and his answer was fear of failure! Was kinda amazed at that as he was worth 10's of millions at that time!
