eBay Purchase Advice Please

Back on September 17th I purchased some specialist plant food on eBay from a vendor located approximately 65 miles away from where I live. I did this because I could not locate it anywhere in my locality and I needed it quite urgently.

The published delivery date was between September 24th and 27th.

The 27th arrived but the plant food did not, so I contacted the vendor. He never replied, but on the 29th I received an email informing me it had shipped that day from Syracuse, New York, (obviously he's a drop shipper), with an estimated delivery date of October 6th. I have tracking information which I check several times a day, and that status remains unchanged.

It didn't show up on the 6th, so again I emailed the vendor. He replied yesterday in a very aggressive manner, basically telling me to shut up and be patient. He ended by warning me that he only leaves good feedback once he has received good feedback, anything else and he will pan me as a purchaser.

He has 99.6% positive feedback on eBay and I'm wondering if this is how he has achieved it.

Anyway, my question is: can he get away with leaving me bad feedback? I've been buying and selling on eBay for ever, and so far my feedback is 100% positive. I don't want to ruin that, but I really want to say what a jerk he is.

Save your emails from them Annie.
Threatening you with bad feedback could be against ebay's extortion policy.

This ^^^^ and it might be time to consider a chargeback. He might be slow playing you to the point where you exceed the time limit for a refund.

So sorry to hear that happened to you, Annie. As for your feedback as a buyer, he can't do anything to hurt your percentage score. Ebay removed that option a long time ago (which isn't really fair to sellers when they have a legitimate reason to leave bad feedback). The worst he could do in terms of feedback is leave a negative comment in the feedback he leaves you, as well as in response to your negative feedback for him.

Sellers like this do need to be reported, as ThomM suggested. And as Dan mentioned, might be time to do a charge back. Also, the eBay buyer's protection should cover this as well (I've never had to use that, so I'm not sure how that works).

According to the tracking, the purchase is still out there somewhere, and after waiting all this time, I really would like to receive it, otherwise I'm going to have to start at the beginning again with another vendor.

If it doesn't turn up tomorrow (Friday), I think I shall have to involve eBay, including sending them copies of my emails and the vendor's.

Whatever happens, if he can't create trouble for me, he's going to get some scathing feedback.

Actually eBay has changed their feedback rules a couple of years ago. Sellers can no longer leave bad feedback for buyers, even if they wanted to. A sellers only choice is to leave positive or no feedback. So if I were you I'd let that jerk have it. There's no reason for that kind of selling behavior, and other buyers should be warned.

edit: I see Cali16 beat me to it.

Yes, l have heard some horror stories around, Fiverr; or individuals having their high selling products removed because a competitor kicked up a stink about it, (for no justifiable reason, apart from greed).
