Houston we have a problem!

I'm wondering if the forum is now over riding our settings and options! Suddenly over the last few days any thread that I reply to, I'm instantly subscribed even though in control panel, I have it set to the default "Do not subscribe".

Is anyone else having this issue?

I have a couple threads I've been getting email notifications for lately.
I just noticed under additional options below the submit reply button there is a box for Thread Subscription and in the drop down it was on Daily Email Notification. That could be the issue.

I also was considering changing that option but I was thinking that it will apply also to the threads that I want to subscribe to.

When you go to post a reply the daily notification under Attachments only seems to apply to that post. I changed it to do not subscribe on my first post and it's back to daily under this post.

I don't think I've looked at that since I signed up here. Mine was set to no email notifications and I was subscribed to over 7,000 threads. I just set it to do not subscribe so after I post this I'll go check and see if I'm subscribed to this thread.

Edited to add: Yep, I'm subscribed to this thread now and my preference was still set to do not subscribe. Doesn't really matter to me though.

It's not the end of the world for me, I just don't need notifications to threads that I have no interest in where I said what was needed and have nothing further to say.

Ok I changed it to do not subscribe! This has never been a problem before until now.

I believe that Freelancer has it now set to Daily notifications by default.

That's what I'm thinking. I still have do not subscribe set in my control panel had had a couple dozen threads listed there that I was subscribed to.

I've been having the same issue the past several days, Joseph. My settings are set to "do not subscribe", but every time I post in a thread I'm automatically subscribed to it. However, even though it also defaults to "instant" email notifications, I haven't received any notifications when new posts are made. I just keep deleting them from my subscription list, but not sure why it suddenly changed.

I don't get email notifications for all the threads only some and I'm wondering what criteria is being used to determine those that do.

I never get notifications (thankfully). That would be annoying to me. I had mine set to no notifications before I changed it to test this for you, so maybe that was retained.

The "find more posts" search is working intermittently again, too. Lots of broken stuff lately.

I just checked my email, and fortunately, I'm not getting any notifications. In fact, somehow or other, I didn't even get the notice when WF was being sold. Maybe it's possible to stay under the radar.

This is getting ridiculous, I just got a notification for this thread that shows every post made.

Between this problem and the broken search engine, I don't know what is worst.

Another thing to note is that if you change the setting in the advanced editor and then go back to edit a post, it automatically goes back to daily notifications and you'll have to change it again after you edit your post.

Yeah. You have to change it every time. Annoying.

I think setting up the email filter is the better option. Or finding a new forum.

            Hi Joseph,

I just sent you a PM about this issue. This shouldn't be happening and there is no override on any settings.
We're looking to see exactly what is going on and how we can fix it.

I have noticed that any thread that I reply to automatically subscribes me but the email notifications don't come for every subscribed thread, they come in randomly.

here are 3 that came in a little while ago with the last reply on 2 of them being today and the other, the last reply was yesterday.

              It's really wacky!

Thank you for sending this through Joseph.
Does this match your thread subscription details in your control panel?

Yes it does but the thing is that I've never actually subscribed to not one single thread in the 6 years that I've been a member, the Forum just started doing that recently within the last few weeks.
