I'm always using my phone. Networking, checking email etc. Iv always had an android, just don't know if I should save money or upgrade to the 4.

Seriously, what the heck is that thing on the top? It has two huge round thingies that look like they may be useful.
Does "Rikstelefon" get a better signal? Do they have good plans? I really need a good signal out here in the country.
Do I have to carry that box thing around? Can it just be attached to my house and then I can walk around and still get service?
Please tell us where you got such a thing!

Frank I've been seriously thinking about going back to a land line and ditching my cell phone completely.
I currently have a Motorola Tundra with a data block and limited texting. My contract expired around a year and a half ago (March 2013) and the only phones offered for an upgrade are smart phones.

I know what you mean, Thom. Whether it's the bulk sharing of photos, batch texting, or Facebook posting, seems like modern technology keeps coming up with more efficient ways to avoid having to actually speak to your friends.

I'm pretty sure you're being sarcastic but for those who are too young to know, There was no keypad in the early days, you would just lift the phone and click the hook with your finger a few times and you'll get Mable the local switch board operator.

You would say Mable can you connect me to Tom Miller on Pinebrook Road, later they would have numbers such as TREmont 3106 or PEnnsylvania 4-4500.

Later came what is called Memory Chunking.

Professor Miller research and other confirming studies along with the significant internal research performed at Bell Laboratories [1] confirmed the limitations we all have on memory and how we use a process of "Chunking" data to <= 7 digits to deal with the limitations of the Human Brain. This lead directly to the number format of NNN-NNNN using a dash to break the numbers in to smaller Chunks. There are some technical reasons that the first chunk is 3 digits, however there was internal research at Bell Laboratories that found that in Chunking, it is best to start with no more then 3 digits and then if there needs to be a 4 digit chunk, it should be the last in the sequence. As the area code became more prominent with direct dialing the 3 digit pattern fit nearly perfectly. Additionally, later studies showed that people would memorize common area codes and pull that from a seemingly separate part of memory when matching it up was a 7 digit phone number.

I have a cheap $10 Tracphone my wife picked up at Walmart three years ago. She bought it for emergency purposes as I venture off into the forests & may hurt myself or get lost. I have no clue what my phone # is & have used it about 4-5 times total to make calls (lots of minutes are built up at this point).

I remember back in the 1984-86 having to wear a beeper... what a hassle. I view the cellphone as a hassle as well & only my wife knows my # (I better share it with mom & brother when I think about). I rarely ever carry it & never check it for messages. It's for emergency use only.

People are addicted to their cellphones. Not me... I choose to be addicted to my desktop computer instead.

We have a land line at home which we just switched over to our cable company to save money.

I have 2. One for business (my iPhone) and one for personal (the one made in, hmmm, 1902?)

ie, not a smart phone - I think its a LG something or other. No data plan. Only my friends have my personal phone number; everything else goes thru the business phone.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S5 and its waterproof! It's so cool! It even has this feature called audio zoom when you are recording and you can point it at something or some people and zoom in as you're recording and it will try to cancel out all noise around you and only listen to and record to what you are pointing at, and it really works well too!

Well I only use my note 3 for twitter, pinterest, facebook, internet browsing, i text a lot...

I liek swype on the keyboard on android. Just not sure what I should stick too.. I need the long battery life though. The Note 4 has 34 hr battery life.

I currently have a galaxy s3 but I am actually thinking about switching from a smartphone back to a flip....ive just recently realized how much time I spend on my phone (social media & entertainment) not being productive. Its become more of a distraction than anything else.

I have an Iphone 5S and I am happy with it, for everything apart from actually making calls! The amount of times it "drops phone calls" is crazy!

However, I love everything else about it. Great design and power!
