As a long time College football nut, I would have thought hell would freeze over before i had seen the day LSU fans would storm the field at Death Valley after beating Powerhouse Ole Miss

The college football landscape is ever so dynamic

I saw some of the first half and almost all of the 4th quarter.

On the Ole Miss last drive of the game I felt the blitz by the defense on 4th & 8 backfired and allowed the drive to continue but that corny pass interference penalty almost bailed the rebels out.

IMHO, A defensive back panicking when he's been beaten deep is one of the funniest things in sports.

    Also...

IMHO defenses should never blitz when its 3rd or 4th and more than 6 yards to go because it only increases the chances of something bad happening to the defense.

The only time I would advocate blitzing in those long yardage situations is when the defense is trying to knock the offense out of field goal range.

I've seen plenty of games turn bad thanks to a blitz happy defense coordinator.

    BTW...

It was a stupid call by the Ole Miss coach to run another play with like 8 seconds left when they were set for a 47 yard field goal attempt - to tie the game, and an unbelievabley bad play by their QB to throw that lazy hanging interception on that play.

He seriously hurt his Heisman chances with that one play.

LSU ran the ball down their throats when they had to as that last drive of theirs went 95 yards and had 12 running plays in a row with the short TD pass for play #13.

But yes, if Ole Miss and Miss St. are now powerhouses the landscape is ever so dynamic.

    And...

I'll be glad when they expand the playoff field to 8 teams instead of just 4.

Too many programs and fans can and will cry about being cheated out of a chance at the national title with only 4 teams in the playoff.
