I need your help. What should I choose?

I just got a call from my son and he invited me to go to the Haunted House Erubus again, like tonight!

Last time, I was mauled by that gorilla thingy and scared beyond belief where I couldn't even run. But that wasn't even on Halloween!

And now, still in a daze from Grama's passing, I don't know...I'm scared...

What do you think? Good for me, or bad for me?

I don't know but my first thought was maybe it might get your mind off of Grama's passing for a while. But... if it were me and I really didn't want to, I wouldn't.

That's the thing, I don't know if I want to or not.

I'm afraid that not being my best mentally and physically, I might have a stroke or heart attack or maybe pee my pants, lol!

      Is that stupid?

No, it's not. I'm sure he has the best of intentions but it's alright to say no and take it easy for awhile. If you try to be strong and ignore your body while it's grieving, it will catch up to you, Terra, and it may be physically.

You need to step back for awhile and remove as much stress from your life as possible. Take care of yourself.

        Still praying for you. :-)

        Joe

Edit: I'm late to the party. The decision has already been made. I'm glad you didn't go. :-)

    Hi Terra,

Good for you. It's a non-threatening type of scare. So just enjoy getting a thrill or scare and then laugh at yourself for screaming or whatever.

    Have fun.

      A non-threatening scare...hmm...that doesn't sound so bad...

I have to think some more. That's hard for me right now, lol!

      Any more thoughts?

I was going to mention that visiting your son, may be the best part of the deal.

Probably moved on to pumpkin patch ...ahem, dating!!!!

Glad you are feeling better, l have had to fend off the trick or treaters in our street tonight, but wasn't up to it with my lame phantom tooth!

      Ha! You pegged me!

      You know what, Paul?

I think that's exactly what I'm going to do. You always seem to have the right answers for me and I thank you for that!

I'll lay my feelings out and let him choose. I probably wouldn't hesitate at all if hubby wanted to go too, but he never wants to go under any circumstances. If he went, I would feel safer; he's been my saving grace through all of this.

I'm sure my son being so sensitive and all will make the right decision.

Travlinguy, if he chooses for me to go, I'll hit you up!

Thanks guys, for helping me through this.

        It's settled. We're not going.

My son said that if I wasn't in to going 100%, he didn't want me to go. He's coming over and we'll all go out to dinner together instead.

        Whew!

Paul, you were right as always. = )

You do what you're most comfortable with ma'am....to say the very least....but I like what Ken Thompson said about the non-threatening scare....that's really all a haunted house is...even though some of them really do a good job of it....

You could always just go with your son just to be with him....he knows your close by....and let him do the haunted house and get his thrill....and laugh....and then the two of you go eat something after that....it still gets you out of the house if that's what you need right now...

I am truly sorry to hear about Grama's passing....

Whatever you decide....you enjoy the weekend, ma'am....

    Hope this helps a little

I think you should go. Just repeat a peaceful whammy before you leave. One that will encase you in a force field of serenity. That should protect you from any type of fear. If you need one hit me up.

Terra - it's Halloween and you KNOW it's just a fantasy world and not going to hurt you. How really scared can you get? Serious.

If I were you, I'd be more concerned about my physical strength to go. If you are too drained, you are too drained. I've had to sit out a holiday for health reasons before, too, and I don't think your son will hold that against you. Maybe there is a less strenuous way to enjoy some holiday fun with him if it's too much for ya now.

If you do decide to go, just remember those "players" have pretty strict restrictions about what they are able to do in the way of touching. They aren't supposed to touch you - they can get right up to you and follow you uncomfortably, but they aren't allowed to touch you (lawsuits). I'm sure it happens accidentally now and again, but you don't need to worry about being grabbed, etc.

      Terra,
      you were right
I didn't give you an answer. Just one possible way to find the best one without having to feel like you were letting your son or yourself down.

Plus, it gives him the chance to do something for you. Pretty nice Halloween gift for him.

I know that. I know you better than to worry about being "scared". Physical depletion makes that attitude. That's why I'm wondering if you are okay physically for it.

How long is that "tour"? We've got a haunted corn field out in ID that takes over a half hour to walk through and is quite a long little hike. If you're talking about something like that, only you can decide if you are strong enough for it. Two weeks without eating or sleeping right would be enough to put me out of that one hands down. However - don't miss the dinner. It sounds like you could use a good one.

This one takes about an hour. It covers four levels including the basement/lower level. It's in an old, old building downtown Pontiac across from the Phoenix Center.

Ok, I'm out for dinner now, be back soon. Oh, and unfortunately, I'm out of thanks or I'd be thanking you all. Especially Positive/Negative. I loved your post!

    Terra,

The best thing you can do right now is just to spend time with your family. Doing normal things like having dinner with the family or a cup of tea with a good friend are the things that give us strength after losing a loved one.
