Just a curious question, as I have seen quite a few Internet Marketing Professionals use Apple Macs as their demo PCs when doing presentations. I was just wondering if there was a reason behind this? Is it easier to do certain things with or something for Internet Marketing? Or is it just every Internet Marketer I have met uses a Mac and everybody else uses PCs? Not that I have anything against it but some insight would be appreciated. |

I switched years ago because of so many problems with so many different PC's. I wouldn't go back now -- it's what I'm used to and I don't have any problems with my Mac. A computer is just a tool, and you can do your IM tasks with either computer I'd say most IM'ers use PC's still, but there is a growing number who are switching to Mac because they are disgruntled with things like Vista.

I use an iMac because the OS is reliable, the computer is quiet (no fans running 24/7) and by using VMWare, I can also run other OS simultaneously. I keep XP running so I can view my websites using both Firefox and IE. I could even run Ubuntu if I wanted! John |

I personally made the switch just recently. I had some serious issues with Vista that turned me off PC's. I am not a PC hater but I was losing a signifigant amount of work time due to my Vista issue. My issue was not common but it was not unique either -it was an issue with the Vista updates. I am still not 100% comfortable with Mac but there are things about it I really love - like the fact that Pages on Mac have a very easy and powerful export to PDF tool built in. Arttext is a very cool and handy program that I do not think is available on PC. Also Force Quit works way easier and quicker than the Windows Task manager. I am using Addium for my MSN messenger and it doesn't support offline messaging - I DO miss that. |

| Get pidgin for the mac. I haven't used the mac version but the linux and windows ones work the same way so I 'assume' it's the same for mac. This should fix that problem of offline messages and whatnot.

I used macs a few years ago when i was into graphic arts, and they work just fine. I've used pc's for decades and I have never had issues that other pc users have. Like vista for instance. I've got a machine that runs vista basic and after almost a year of use, i have not had one problem with it

I always used windows untill last week - now I have had a taste of LINUX its all over. Windows is a great company etc but it was a virus that ended it for me. Now I have found that the free alternative is far better anyway. As for mac ?? Don't need it. |

I think a lot of it has to do with productivity. I have noticed that people doing any kind of serious work tend to use macs or linux. The reason for that is the same reason construction workers use big burly trucks for their job. If you are using your computer as a tool you want that tool to be powerful and stable. Personally, I recently went back to mac because I'm an impatient person, and I don't like the frequent problems I've encountered on PC. The only thing I use a PC for is .net development, which has been less and less lately. For web development, graphics, and everything else I use my Mac or Ubuntu. I only go into windows when I have to. Speaking of which I've been a vista user for 2 weeks and already the OS crashed. I did a windows update and somehow the boot sector got knocked out. I bought the laptop for .net development and hardly ever used it, maybe 3 hours total in that two weeks. This is the reason I can't rely on a PC to get stuff done. Not to mention my 6 year old mac is still faster than the brand new vista machine I just bought. WTF? To answer your question, it's stability, speed and ease of use. Once you get used to the interface, and configure spaces and the like, your productivity on a mac will improve. (Linux also has multiple desktops, which is great when you're doing serious work). |

| Thats all it takes for a lot of people. I first started using slack in 1996, and I've been a die hard ever since. Nothing is sweeter than a finely tuned Linux box that just does it's job (quickly) day after day for years.

"Why do so many Internet Marketers use Macs?" Because if they record videos, they want that Apple logo showing in them. They try to sell you "how to make money online" stuff, so they use their mac as "social proof". What else could a rich internet marketer use than the most expensive Macbook pro? I know an internet marketer who actually use PC, but if he record videos then there is always a Mac in front of him lol. (you know in that sales videos) The other marketers who do not want to sell "make money online" products simply use Mac because they saw that the big gurus also use macs ![]() Anyway, if you want an as good OS as the Mac OS X, then use Ubuntu on a good notebook or desktop PC, and save hundreds of dollars. |

Most people stick with what they're used to. There was a time when Macs had an advantage for graphic design and video, I think. Some IM-ers will have been using Macs then for those reasons and just stuck with them. |

I find that I can do so much more with my Mac than I ever could with a PC. And while there may not be as much software for the Mac, the programs that are available are truly wonderful - easy to learn and use with very professional results. I was surprised to discover how Photoshop Elements, for example, is slightly different for the Mac than the PC. I was showing a friend some image editing techniques, and stuff that showed up on the Mac in the editing screen was not available on the PC, or if it was, you really had to dig to find it. Also, so much is already built in to the Mac that makes it very easy to do so many tasks that are applicable to Internet Marketing. PLUS - I don't have to frustrate myself trying to complete simple tasks on a Mac. It just works the way it's supposed to. |

They don't. It's one of those urban myths you hear going around all the time. Don't believe a word of it. |

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that Mac offers the best when it comes to information security, i mean when have you heard of a Mac virus right? Besides this the wide functionality of applications available for Internet Marketing in the Mac world is a really enticing offer that makes people go for the OS switch.
