Let me add that Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is not 100% curable. So if you happen to get it, the damage is done and surgery is generally the only way to alleviate the compressed nerve(s).

Nerve tissue once damaged, is damaged for good. It is one of the only tissues in your body that cannot rejuvenate itself.

Hubby has CTS, from 20 years of repetitive work in the furniture factory.

One of his first cousins is an Orthopedic Surgeon, who has examined my husband's hands/wrists and concluded that his case was too far gone and that surgery would not result in relief - as the tissue would just grow back.

I got my husband out of the factory work 2 years back, but doing web work for me (loading products into client carts) is not helping - traded one repetitive act for another, but at least at home he can take breaks when he wishes and such.

But the result of all those years in the factory, his hands frequently just release their grip on things ... am often cleaning up spilled drinks (typically full glasses of sweet tea!). He has much difficulty in holding a pen/pencil for writing.

Basically, it's just as crippling as rheumatoid arthritis!

If it wasn't for NC laws made against carpel tunnel care in the work place (worker's compensation, etc), my husband may have gotten treatment sooner and thus have better use of his hands at age 46.

One of the most important things that you can do is to make sure you drink plenty of water. If you are properly hydrated it is very unlikely that you will suffer from this condition.

    There are factors as well:

Eat plenty of green vegtables or green drinks.

Rotate your wrists left to right right to left up and down.

Get yourself a small ball that you will be able to squeeze in your hand.

This may sound silly but have a tennis ball under your desk. Take your foot and roll that ball under the bottom of your foot. You may actually feel some discomfort at first, sore spots on the bottom of your foot.
