    OK, I am SHOCKED that so many don't know about most of them, but TASER: Thomas A. Swift's Electric Rifle? SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!? THAT sounds like a BACKRONYM! I mean COME ON! LASER was ALWAYS an ackronym, and for good reason. OK, OK, I can understand why PHASER might have been named that because of the radiation they supposedly put out, but the "ASER" thing seems popular for such things. HEY, there is a MASER, PASER,GASER,SASER, and X(ray)ASER also! The ASER is always the same meaning.

    Would FUBAR be as popular without advent?
