Some people IGNORE it, and LOSE! Some people go whole hog and lose that much more!

IMAGINE! Just IMAGINE! You are a two bit actress that, like so many others, has a menial job. You end up auditioning for a role in what they plan to have as a series and play one of the key characters! YOU GET THE PART! WHAT do you do?

This story is about an actress that had the above happen to her. The head STAR character, that said HE was actually intimidated because the whole thing was new to him, even CHIDED her for it. But she kept doing her job, at least until the show was picked up.

How'd Karyn Parsons Get Her Gig On 'Fresh Prince'? Brattiness. : NPR

It turns out she even helped create the character.

BTW! In reference to ANOTHER thread I wrote, *****LOOK***** at what the company she created does!

She acts like equality is her goal. Have a look at the board of directors page on her site.

HEY, I am all for TRUE equality. TRUE equality means that if a blacks value is worth twice that of a whites, they will get paid twice as much and vice versa, etc.... So SOME would see that as a "racist" view, but it ISN'T! The KKK traditionally wanted the blacks to only take the most menial of jobs, and be paid poorly, and the black panthers wanted the non blacks to be like that. THOSE are racist views.

If she hires people that give awards to blacks in that area, or that have worked with blacks in that area, that is only reasonable. And most WILL happen to be black.

I DO want to check out the inventors, as some have gotten credit for things they had nothing to do with, but otherwise, I am all for it. Like ben carson getting credit for being the first surgeon to successfully separate twins conjoined in the head. If he is the first, GREAT! WHO CARES if he happened to be black? Of course, it DOES hurt the idea of blacks being hopelessly disadvantaged or inferior. And that means that MORE blacks may strive to be the best. That ALSO means MORE will do better financially. Brain surgery is tricky, and requires a lot of medical precision and techniques that most want to stay away from. There IS a reason why it is considered a mentally difficult job, and it requires physical precision also.. and Conjoined twins is ESPECIALLY difficult since you have to look at physical abilities, mental needs, blood flow, etc....

      AND, in Wikipedia?
In 1987, Ben Carson made medical history by being the first surgeon in the entire world to successfully separate conjoined twins (the Binder twins) conjoined at the back of the head (craniopagus twins). Operations to separate twins joined in this way had always failed, resulting in the death of one or both of the infants. Carson agreed to undertake the operation. The 50-member surgical team, led by Carson, worked for 22 hours. At the end, the twins were successfully separated and can now survive independently.

    Love, love, love Hilary.

These triumphant stories of individuals surmounting the odds and making invaluable contributions to our society are inspirational and empowering

These stories are American stories. They illustrate for our children the concept that tremendous obstacles are actually opportunities for greatness!
    Great message (from Karyn's website).

It may appear like an issue you'd want to have: Deciding what to do with a sudden legacy from a missing relative or an enormous win in the lottery.

Yet, as the pitiful stories of some lottery champs plainly show, sudden riches could rapidly winding into a living bad dream - with the loss of riches, as well as family, companions and even wellbeing.

EXACTLY my point! This show had a number of relative unknowns. The star was unknown. It may have been the FIRST such show to have rap, etc... in its theme song, etc... And it was a CLEAN RAP which is unusual ITSELF! And there is always the idea of some format getting tiresome! This was a mixture of the traditional rich family mixed in with an off the wall poor relative. BOTH good ideas, but in themselves not overly unique.

Side note! I didn't care about the color of their skin. I watched it JUST like I watched all in the family(A show about a white family with a racist patriarch and various conflicts that created) and Good times(About a poor black family living in the projects with the problematic views of one of the kids, etc....). I bet nobody else cared either. Though the idea of them being black made the idea of being a barry manilow fan even weirder, and made the rap and culture clash of this nature make more sense.

But you can't rely on such things. Karyn waited until things really started to take off before she got used to it, etc....

A long time ago a friend much wiser than I once told me

Money merely amplifies whatever is already there inside a person. And sudden unexpected wealth amplifies it even more.
