OMGosh!

I live 3.7 miles from work and it just took me 40 minutes to get home! I could barely see six inches in front of me. Roads, what roads? I guessed. White out conditions...

Have you ever gone trailblazing through snow in a low profile sports car? Ha! It's not fun! But I did it! Hooray for me. Oh, sorry, lol! I'm just so proud of myself, hehe!

And they're predicting another 4 to 6 by nightfall/rush hour, now. When I left at 6:45 this morning, they said possible accumulation for all day, 1 to 2 inches.

I'm sure glad that tomorrow is my last day! Whoo Hoo!

I hope our real estate agent doesn't cancel our appointment this evening to put a bid in on the house we want.

Now, it's just a waiting game, I guess...

We're supposed to get 1-3" today and another 8-12 tonight. Which is exactly what they said the other day when all we got was a dusting. Watch this turn out to be 3 feet.

The shores of the great lakes. Never a dull winter.

      You can say that again!

Right after I posted, the sun broke out and nary a snow flake!

But then, less than 5 minutes later, it was white out again, I couldn't even see the pine tree 4 feet from the door wall and it hasn't stopped since.

No snow yet in my area but I know that the Buffalo area had about 6 feet! ... and it is still snowing at times. I just heard that the Buffalo Bills football game on Sunday has been cancelled already!

Why is it that when the South gets pounded by hurricanes everyone in the North expresses their sympathy, but when the North gets pounded with deadly amounts of snow everyone in the South tells us how nice the weather is in their parts?

Apparently, when it comes to snow, all traces of Southern Hospitality and friendliness flee without a trace! <sniff, sniff> Yes those sniffs are from the cold, not the temperature though, but rather the conditions of some southern hearts.

I so hope all of you that are in the midst of this crap stay safe.

We finally got the "s" word today. It was supposed to be nothing, it's been "s"-ing all morning. It had better stop soon or I will be forced, FORCED I SAY to go outside and dance naked to the snow gods. That always scares them off!!!

@ Terra... you be careful lady! And, it sounds like you and your husband made a decision? Are you going to tell us about it? Wait.. nevermind. I'd rather wait until it's final. HOWEVER, I am sending you big wishes that this goes through!!! Good luck!!!!

@ Paul.. I love the predictions of "only a couple of inches" and it turns out to be feet. The opposite always applies. I remember in '08 I woke up to almost 3' of snow. My husband was in Oregon at the time. I learned how to drive a tractor and plow snow all in one day!!!

All of you be careful and safe! Today was our first snow and there were so many slide offs and crashes! Even a police officer slid off the road!

We have agreed, will wonders never cease!

I'll tell you about it now, sure! Then if we get it we can rejoice together and if not, you can cry with me, lol!

It's 5 acres, the property hubby wanted.

It has a two story 30 x 48 pole barn hubby wanted for his race car and toys and tools and such.

It's has the walkout basement partially finished with a fire place and bar that I wanted.

It's 1500 square feet upstairs and 900 downstairs which is downsizing that we both wanted. It has 3 bedrooms, and 2 baths which we wanted.

It has a swimming pool that I love since we never replaced ours here after the storm and trees took out the old one and it has a small green house in the corner of the large deck, how freakin' cool!

And it's only 6 miles from hubby's work, only two miles further than now, but in a completely different direction.

I'm hoping and praying we get it!!

Feel free to join me, haha!

Okay, the bid has been drawn up, signed, good faith check written and the bid has been sent from our realtor to the listing realtor who should get it first thing in the morning and present it to her client tomorrow. Whew!

Now I'm going to be on pins and needles until we hear something.

My toes are already starting to ache from crossing them. Haha! I'm kidding, Dan and Claude.

@ Cali - I will post photos once, if, we get the house, when it's MINE!! Last time I posted a photo of a house, I ended up not getting it. Completely hubby's fault and I haven't forgotten, lol!

What's not to love about this Michigan autumn?

The changing colors (from green to white)
The brisk fall air (from 80 degrees to 20 degrees)
The charming commute (for me, from 5 minutes to 25 minutes)

With falls like these, who needs a Michigan winter?

    Stay warm and dry Terra!

Jeez Terra. You're driving a sportscar in winter? Holy heck. I trust you are smart enough to have a few layers of clothes with you. I know you don't go that far but if we start getting the winters we had when I was a kid, you need at least one vehicle with some clearance.

Do you remember white out parties? For those of you that live in the South and do not understand snow - a white out party is when the weather forecast says enough snow coming that people are going to be snowed in for a day or two - friends get together at someone's house to get snowed in together. We used to have the best white out parties.

Anyhow - be glad that white out is flat land there. White out in Colorado is a whole new adventure. If I ever hear of you getting stranded without any emergency clothes, I'm gonna have to slap you around a little when I get back there.

The diggs sound great -- fingers crossed for ya. Is it in Orion or elsewhere?

Ha! Had I not believed the forecast this morning, I'd have taken the jeep with 4 wheel drive and hubby would have taken his truck with the plow on it.

      LOVED those white out parties!

Oh, it's not still in Orion, it's in Oxford. Well, Oxford mailing and schools but in Brandon Township. It's right at the Ortonville and Oxford line, about a half mile off of Baldwin Rd.

Awesome. I've been concerned about you being in that house again during winter season with it all shut up. If a move doesn't clear you up - you really need to consider coming west to dry climate. I can't even tell I have asthma anymore out here.

BTW - I thought you folks had something with clearance. I was a little shocked to hear you're driving a street car in all of this white.

Nope I read that - I was referring back to earlier. I was surprised you'd been driving a car because I thought you had 4W and clearance. I thought there had already been some snow on the ground so I was surprised about what you were driving in white out. You're post about the 4W and truck just confirmed what I thought.

Um..........it's time to start driving that 4W rig......in case you hadn't caught that one already. Put the car AWAY for the winter.

BTW -- if my dad would get a Jeep or such he wouldn't have been trapped at home when he had to go to the hospital last year (year before?) and even the ambulance couldn't get to him. Not having one almost killed him.

          Oh, Okay!

          I get it.

Actually we had brutally cold weather and winds up to 35 miles an hour making it worse, but only a few scattered snow flurries with little to no accumulation. A dusting at best in some places here on the East side. The West side was a completely different story as far as the snow.

Jeez - we were right next door. I was raised in Flushing. Of course, you're probably a lot younger than I am, too, so not much chance we actually had met before and don't remember. Still kinda wild knowing we might have some time been standing in the same checkout line at a store.

            Hi Sal,

I just turned 54. I remember visiting Flushing lots of times. Only one of us siblings returned to Michigan. My brother moved to Novi years ago to work for Panasonic. Two of us ended up in DC (I left there in 1995) and the other two stayed in Ohio. For the life of me I can't imagine why anyone would want to live in Michigan or Ohio when there are states that have much better winters!

      Sal,

I can't tell you how much I hope you're right, because...

      Oh Nooooooo...

Of all the dumb luck, I can't believe this.

First thing yesterday morning, the attorney in charge of the estate went for his annual physical and was doing his routine stress test when his physician stopped it and sent him to the hospital by ambulance where he had emergency surgery and three stents put in. So, the listing realtor wasn't able to present our offer to him.

This means that until he's felling a bit better, more bids could come in and if so, he could very easily choose a different one!

Although I'm glad he got the help he needed, I'm devastated. Really? Seriously?

      Sigh...

      Another waiting game...

I hope our real estate agent doesn't cancel our appointment this evening to put a bid in on the house we want.

Now, it's just a waiting game, I guess...

      Ha! Thanks, WC!

I'd much rather crash my bike in the sand on a tropical beach than my car in the snow, lol!

Speaking of our crazy Michigan weather, a warm front is moving in and we've got freezing rain for another couple of hours at which point it will turn over to just rain and by the end of the weekend, all this snow will be gone.

But then we get to do it all over again as the temps get cold again.

          Hmmm,

          Don't you have air conditioning?

Or what about a nice dip in the water together?

Bonnie - I've lived in snowfall states all my life and know a lot of people that actually just love winter. It can't get cold enough or the snow deep enough for them to say enough is enough. Floors me - I'm not one of em. I love the Great North West in 3 seasons, but sure wish I could go south for at least a couple of months in winter.
