Large Hadron Collider Could Create Wormholes: a Gateway for Time Travelers?

EU Scientists Working On Laser To Rip a Hole In Spacetime - Slashdot

Tried to click on the last link, link, but it didn't go through, or took forever!

I briefly read about this in Scientific American, or Possibly Australian, (something like that) whereby scientists said put some powerful lazers or accerators into space and aim it at a single point in space.

It should create a wormhole, and eventually allow us to go back in time, (even the 70's).

Although the Earth based one is more practical, and riskier!

Fascinating though, punch a hole in space, time and it might give us a time machine, or shortcut, or it will do something else! Gulp!

Shane; We are traveling through time, right now.

It's possible to slow down our perception of time, traveling into the future at an accelerated rate. But you need to be very near a Black hole......So.....not in the foreseeable future.

But, I saw a science experiment that showed that..through a series of nearly impossible steps....we could see the future. I don't mean "predict" the future. I mean see it as it is actually happening.

    It's fun to talk about.

So you saw a movie based on Philip K.Dick's short story "Paycheck". I also saw that science experiment.

I saw Paycheck too. Nope, this involved going to a very distant planet, and looking back at Earth..and then (If I remember correctly) traveling toward Earth faster than the speed of light.

Anyway, the math made sense, of course it's not really something that we'll ever do....but it's fun as a mind experiment.

I am re-reading Seneca's "On the Shortness of Life". You can time-travel almost anytime you get ready.

By other men's labours we are led to the sight of things most beautiful that have been wrested from darkness and brought into light; from no age are we shut out, we have access to all ages, and if it is our wish, by greatness of mind, to pass beyond the narrow limits of human weakness, there is a great stretch of time through which we may roam.
We may argue with Socrates, we may doubt with Carneades, find peace with Epicurus, overcome human nature with the Stoics, exceed it with the Cynics. Since Nature allows us to enter into fellowship with every age, why should we not turn from this paltry and fleeting span of time and surrender ourselves with all our soul to the past, which is boundless, which is eternal, which we share with our betters?

It's fun to talk about, but a lot more fun if we bring in some conspiracy theories. So, I have unearthed from the totally true world of you-tube an earth shattering revelation. And, I will not bore you by posting the Coast To Coast radio broadcast which spends hours explaining it. Just briefly then

Several people join the broadcast and claim to have been chosen in the sixties, seventies and eighties for a top secret program of time travelling and teleportation, most are picked as children. Both mediums are making use of technology derived from the work of Tesla. The time travelling was moving down some sort of corridor but more interestingly (for this post) the teleportation was to Mars and back. So we have bases their already. Project Pegasus was the alleged programs name.

Now it gets even more interesting when we are told that both a young Barak Obama and a famous astronaut or two were involved and travelled to Mars. Listen to this Astronaut being interviewed on the mainstream media news. Go back to Mars, possible gaffe, should have said the moon, but then, at the end he says go back to the moon or Mars again?. He was no spring chicken but was talking quite coherently apart from those 2 statements.

There was a vid of Obama saying of Mars, Iv'e been there. Cant find it anymore, spooky!

This is of course a Do Do Do Do, Do Do Do Do post.

Wheir exactly? Are their any bases heir on our planet?

LOL, pretty funny; but you forgot to mention the price!

You will get a hyper powerful lazer, that will most likely cause a power blackout, but only for a few minutes. At this once only price of $32,000,000, (Postage and handling not included).
PS. no refunds if it creates a black hole instead!

Groan, yes, read all of that, and the teleporter was a lift that distorted or the roof and sides caved in on the occupant so it eventually formed a sphere with an open end.

So it distorts space, time, but in all honesty it sounded more like a sci-fi novel!

Likely there is a US base on Mars, but this sounds a little too dodgy to swallow!

You could be the ruiner of the universe.
Yes, no Riffle, no more Claude waking up early in the morning in a cold sweat!

          Too scary to even consider!

But what l was saying before, as far as we know in the Amazon there could be some rare insects with a unique ability to distort space, time or time travel?

A guy has recently found some beetles with wings that have electro-static properties, or antigravity properties.

So who knows, as said before, nature has had millions of years to mess around with all of this, and as far as we know, it might not take high powered lazers, there could be a cheaper and easier way to pull it off?

The $1.6 billion Extreme Light Infrastructure Ultra-High Field Facility (known as ELI) will be built somewhere in Europe by the end of the decade and physicists are hoping the ten high-powered lasers — delivering 200 petawatts of power at a target for less than a trillionth of a second — will turn up some surprises about the very fabric of the Universe."

True that we are, but if Einstein is right and all known time exists now, then our perceptions are probably off!

This would create a paradox, if you go back and tell yourself not to read the thread you've removed the motivation or you to go back in time and tell yourself to not read it. You would therefore read it.

I did read a theory somewhere stating that when time travel is created you won't be able to travel to a time before time travel was created, so the moon landing would be off limits (unless time travel already exists).

Ah, excellent topic here! Allow me to imbibe myself after some after holiday merriment inhalants with a few thoughts.

Matter is not really solid. It's compacted energy - some call it "frozen" but it's not. It vibrates.

Now here's where Claude begins to be entertained because it's purely quantum physics -- matter cycles. The Top of the wave is where matter takes on it's illusory material form. In its south wave energy acts like energy rather than matter and time does not exist, or is at least irrelevant during that southern oscillation. this happens outside of our sensory capabilities. Don't ask me why - I'm not sure. It either forms a frequency undetectable to us or the oscillation is just too fast for us to perceive.

Okay - punchline. Suppose we could find a way to suspend the oscillation in the energy cycle. I'm pretty sure where time is irrelevant or non existent there's a host of other possibilities that would go along - maybe infinite possibilities.

      Interesting thought, Sal!

This sounds like how matter creates the illusion of mass or weight, eventhough it is probably atoms brushing against or through higher dimensions, and the shear affect creates the illusion of weight.

It also means that wave forms could affect this anomoly and offset weight.

Or play the right set of modulating tones at something and it might start to float around the room?

It is claimed that the Egyptians used individuals who sang in a certain way while touching a very heavy stone block, and that in turn made it weightless and easily movable.

The guy that lifted one ton blocks of the back of a lorry all by himself, (this is an old man, without any devices to help him out) is testimony to this.

Hopefully someone else here could dig up that link?

As for particles in the accerator reaching light speed, and travelling back, no!

This video can explain it better!

As for particles travelling faster, certainly possible, but as always another buried concept.

My theory on that is they travel through subspace or another dimesion when they exceed lightspeed!

Might allow faster than light speed communication one day, (l know Star Trek)!

I have to admit that there is a lot of crap in this video, which we have already dismissed but some is a lot harder to disprove.

Stephen Hawking - What It Takes to Time Travel - YouTube

As for particles travelling faster, certainly possible, but as always another buried concept.

My theory on that is they travel through subspace or another dimesion when they exceed lightspeed!

Might allow faster than light speed communication one day, (l know Star Trek)!

10 Real incidents that prove time travelers exist - YouTube

I have to admit that there is a lot of crap in this video, which we have already dismissed but some is a lot harder to disprove.

I'm thinking that particles that reach light speed don't actually travel "back" in time, I think they cross dimensional barriers. Of course - being 3rd dimensional, we can't tell what's going on in higher dimensions, so who knows if time is just a part of the 3D illusion and just plain doesn't exist elsewhere?

I don't think we can get back there from here. I think we have to cross a dimensional barrier to do so.

Was Morgan Robertson a time traveler or a psychic?

The Titanic - Futility | HistoryOnTheNet

Futility, or the Wreck of the Titan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Futility, or the Wreck of the Titan is an 1898 novella written by Morgan Robertson. The story features the ocean liner Titan, which sinks in the North Atlantic after striking an iceberg. The Titan and its sinking have been noted to be very similar to the real-life passenger ship RMS Titanic, which sank fourteen years later. Following the wreck the novel was reissued with some changes, particularly in the ship's gross tonnage.

Yes, true, l tend to think that take a cube and make it 4 dimensional it will end up being a cube within a cube or a smaller one, at right angles to the first.

Traveling past light speed is, l believe a way of going at right angles to space, time.

A bit like living in a world that is two dimensional or flat, and realizing that another dimension exists, but it takes traveling at or past light speed to see it!

I have not one clue about how geometry works in higher dimensions, but I'm sure time doesn't work the way it does here.

Punching a hole in space-time, actually, is crossing a dimensional barrier. If wormholes are a 4th dimensional (or higher) phenomena, we should be able to go anywhere we want - without time related effects on us. That would be kewl and would save me a lot of money in anti aging nutrients.

If you ever figure out this time travel thingy, I have a great idea that will make me a gazillionaire. I call it Wal Mart Time Travel. I walk into Wal Mart in Dallas Texas and I want to travel to Boston MA, I go up to the Dallas counter and pay for my ticket and I get zapped to Boston. This happens instantly. While I am at Boston Wal Mart, I rent my car at Wal Mart Car rental and be on my merry way.
I figure if we are charged only $25 for each trip Wal Mart can stop selling wares and only sell travel. If this were around when Sam were here, Bill Gates would have looked like a poor boy.

You see, Wal Mart already has the infrastructure in place to make this happen, so whenever you invent time travel, please let me know. This is my retirement plan so hurry up and do it before it is too late for me.

If it's ever going to be done, then we won't have to worry about how - the people who do it will come back in time and tell us. Since they could have showed up last week, last year or even at a Jules Verne book signing to mention it, I imagine it's not going to happen. Unless they pitched up now, saw a weird world obsessed with Kim Kardashian's backside and decided that time travel wasn't all that it was made out to be

No, that goes against the prime directive!

As for Kim that goes against common sense!

    Ok lets think this out.

If time travel was possible the future would have long contacted us in one way or the other (by simple messages or an eternal paradox that would end up eliminating the Universe as we know it). Since none of this has happened (or maybe it has?) its safe to assume that ... oh no something just brushed past my nose!

My understanding of the speed of light is that it is a true cosmic speed limit. You don't surpass it, but you can spend forever accelerating toward it, because as you get faster time gets slower.

I think the only semi-realistic way to break through would be to find (or create) that wormhole.

As for going back to the seventies, well, it has been done.

Hate to get serious again, but this is pretty cool!

Apparently tini wormholes could be all around us, we just need to enlarge one!

This idea also gives a bit more credibility to mystics supposedly being able to disappear, etc.

Unfortunately, these real-life time tunnels are just a billion-trillion-trillionths of a centimetre across. Way too small for a human to pass through - but here's where the notion of wormhole time machines is leading. Some scientists think it may be possible to capture a wormhole and enlarge it many trillions of times to make it big enough for a human or even a spaceship to enter.
