I Learned Something Fascinating About YouTube Today

I have about 40 or 50 videos that I have uploaded to YouTube.

All of them in FLV format.

Well, today, I just learned from another member who lives in the UK, that
FLV format is NOT listed at the UK YouTube site as an acceptable file
format to upload your video in.

So it appears that this is not a universally accepted format for video upload.

The reason I am bringing this up is this.

If you write a book about video uploads and suggest FLV format in it for
YouTube, you might want to add a disclaimer that this format may not be
accepted by YouTube depending on where you live.

.FLV is not the most widely-accepted upload format, but it is the
most widely-viewable format. YouTube accepts formats not mentioned
in the documentation.

Because .FLV compression-schemes vary, the video-sharing sites
won't just post your .FLV - they'll convert it to their own .flv format,
which generally will perform worse on slower connections with
more hicups than you would have hosting them yourself with
an .flv player, assuming your optimized your video appropriately.

I am regular user of youtube. When I download a video it is in the flv format. So can't we upload the video in the flv format. I believe the videos in youtube are also in this format.
