Ok I've been a space fanatic since I was like 5 years old.
And I must say I am totally disappointed with the US Space program.

After Kennedy was assassinated by the warmongers in the military and the spooks who wanted the Cold War to heat up, and knew Kennedy would never allow that, and the Vietnam war, and the resultant budget cuts that axed the Apollo program, The Space Shuttle was born as stop-gap dead-end measure to stay in low-earth orbit.

Sure the Shuttle had its moments (Hubble, satellite retrieval repairs, building ISS etc) but it was still a dead-end venture, stuck in low-earth orbit, after the heights of Apollo.

After wasting 30 years in a earth orbit, finally NASA trying to get back into deep-space with this souped-up throwback to Apollo. And maybe reach Mars by the mid-2020's if we're lucky.

What pisses me off is if it weren't for the Vietnam conflict we would already be on Mars (or at least have a thriving Lunar Colony). So Humanity has always been held back its aggressive warmongering tendencies.

So I have zero hope for the future of Mankind. We should just all kill ourselves. We ain't gonna go anywhere. We are just heading for self-inflicted Armageddon. That's the bald truth.

Amazing you would sit in Sri Lanka and blast the US space program for letting you down. Riiight.

We should just all kill ourselves.
    That's just stupid.

Yeah, US isn't going anywhere but we do have a lot of corporations bidding to get into space and, of course, make themselves the owners of information, resources, etc.

What country was it that just landed that explorer on the asteroid? Russia also was on Mars ahead of the US, so they may hold more hope for travel since they value science very highly while the US is more worried about creating minions of worker drones.

One thing is straight though. We're an extremely destructive species - no only self-destructive as in the wars you cited, but globally destructive - as in the complete ecosystem of the planet. If there are other forms of intelligent life buzzing around here or on any of the planets/asteroids, etc that we hope to explore, they will probably either kill us off or destroy our efforts to get any too far just because we can't handle our own planet in any intelligent way. Even if we have the technology to go wherever we want, I'm pretty sure that we'd be stopped. Nobody is going to want to see humans coming. Nobody with even a remedial amount of intelligence is going to let us near them other than for study - and that ship won't be sending back info or coming back. In our present evolutionary mutation, we're nothing but dangerous little freaks of nature.

Yes, read some info, about all of this yesterday!

This is mainly from a guy that supposedly met a few aliens, etc! So it has a question mark on it, but still interesting!

This guy was a noted scientist, not a druggy off the street seeking attention!

Basically they said, get rid of money and share everything equally, and the 50 of the worlds population that is poor would disappear.

They also said everyone is intitled to a share, so if someone wanted a BMW, and a Porche, not possible!

The main reason why this world is so f****up is because of greed, power and stupidity, as in the case of Cancer cures, (if you can call it that)!

Putting a human life over a pile of colored plastic is the defination of insanity, or ignoring cheap cures, and bankrupting someone is also getting close!

No, aliens would see us as a baby grasping for a shiny toy, (money) but this baby could distroy everything in sight, as well as itself, eventually if there is no other way to get the toy!

It will most likely take a worldwide disaster to get one to land and help out!

Although the third party rover showing what Mars is really like could do it as well in a few years time!

I agree with some of your post but would point out a few things.

Putting aside the wars (which we have always had) the world is a lot more enlightened than it was a hundred years ago. Yes, a long way to go yet. however, we see more (in a lot of countries but not all) equality for women, we NEVER had that. laws about racism and discrimination, NEVER had that. Better sanitation, more knowledge about medicine and curing diseases. Some sort of safety net in civilized countries for the poor and out of work, welfare. Labor saving devices that free up our time more.

I could go on citing a lot more things that if you were to be dumped a hundred years ago, you would not see. You would see the world as barbaric and backward. There are no good old days. This is the best we have ever had!

What we face now putting all other things a side is overpopulation, the dwindling of the Earths resources and global warming. We are takers. We do not put back.

One simple solution. Bring down the population dramatically over the next generation or 2. Just restrict family sizes. Then we can squabble all we like but it will not have much effect on our fragile biosphere.

Overpopulation is pretty much the problem.

As for the space program. We are not going to go anywhere much while we are still using glorified fireworks, chemical rockets.

Personally, I see this as just another 1989, 2000, and 2012. If people want to die in the suicidal space mission, they have the free will to, but once they do die and we are still alive... We will be the ones alive an they won't OR it could work the opposite. We die, they live. Regardless, its something that we are going to have to go through at one point or another.

True, but at least in the past when Christmas time came or prisoners were taken principles or rules were obeyed?

We can't have all out slaughter of teenagers on the battle field with horrific injuries, without rules of Gentlemen?

Or an excuse for controlled insanity!

These days we use machines and kill from a distance!

True, go back in time as much as we want and the wars get bloodier and more horrific, since medical practices were non existent.

Science will turn war into a strategic computer game!

Yes, can't argue with that apart from the GW one, but that is more of an ill conceived money pit with the wheels barely staying on! Well the man made one is!

Apart from the US that has a few ships that use antigravity plating and a few other things, we aren't supposed to know about!
