Funny/Weird stuff you've done while learning something new
Sorry for the title. I couldn't think of anything else that was short and sweet. I thought I'd see what other funny things people have done while they were newbies.
I'll start:
My husband is teaching me how to drive a stick shift (manual transmission, or whatever it is). It took me about a day or so just to get out first successfully. I can drive OK by myself and for some reason I was driving on the highways. So, this was my first time driving over 45 miles per hour and by myself!
I was told that if my RPMs hit 2500, I'm supposed to shift gears. Since I was on the highway, my goal was to go 75-80 MPH. The problem was, I was going about 50 MPH, had hit 2500 RPMs and I was already at 5th gear. So, I called my husband because I was clueless...
"So, how in heck do you go over 50 in this thing? I'm in 5th and I'm out of gears to shift to!" (My exact words)
Fortunately, he didn't have me on speaker. Unfortunately, he repeated my question aloud so he and his friends could get a good laugh at my newbie-ness.
For those who are not familiar with stick shifts, after you hit 5th gear you don't have to shift up anymore and can go as fast as you want.
This was so embarrassing (and I guess funny) that I had to share. Now its you guys turn! I'm curious to know what you all will post.
