Another faked news story

Recently news outlets around the world republished a New York magazine article about a teen who made $72 million trading on the stock market. Last night the teen admitted he faked the story:

Fake news stories seem to be rampant lately. Here are some other viral news items that have turned out to be fake:

--Claude Whitacre is NOT opening a 75-acre vacuum cleaner superstore on a private island on Lake Erie called Hoover Isle.
--Freelancer has NOT spun off the WSO section to a new site called DoAsISayNotAsIDo.com.
--Paul Myers is NOT writing book about his years as WF moderator called "BanHammer: My Wild Ride as the Head Moderator of the Internet's Most Notorious Marketing Forum."

What other stories do you know that have proven to be fakes?

Richard Van is not writing the following memoir: My Life as the World's Greatest Male Super Model

Contrary to popular belief, Thomas Belknap is actually bald and is not wearing a skull cap in order to make Claude feel better about himself.

Claude Whitacre has not been able to provide scientific proof that he is genetically male (or even human, for that matter.)

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

Dan Riffle did NOT click on the "I can increase your p**** size" spam thread that really is at the top of the OT section as I type this.

      Neither did Walking Carpet.

Which is fake in accordance with the thread title.

Edit. I did click it actually but only because I genuinely find the attempts at spam here so ridiculous it's funny.

          I PM'd you the link.

I was following the convention set forth at the bottom of the OP where he debunks the fake news story. Thus, "Richard did" debunks "Richard did not."

            Confusing set up, I know.

It certainly is confusing, I haven't got a clue what I'm doing now. So is Mike saying this thread isn't hilarious?

I think he may just be.
