This is not a major national project but its important to me and the locals.





- The ICC (Inter County Connector/MD 200) is an 20 mile 6 lane hyway through northern Montgomery County in Maryland that alleviates a major problem of east-west and west-east traffic in the county.

- The cost to build the ICC was approx 3.5 Billion - built with funds from MD taxpayers.

- It connects interstate 95 (the one that runs up and down the east coast) to MD. 270 - a very important north/south 8 lane thruway on the far west side of the county.

Note: Every workday morn the traffic is horrible and MD 270 is one of the main reasons the D.C. metro area is always at or near the top in traffic congestion each year.

- Of course its a toll road. It cost about $2.70, maybe more during rush hour to use all 20 miles of it and its a lot cheaper if your car has "Easy Pass" as there are no toll booths.

- Now some folks can get to the other side of the county in 20 minutes instead of 35-40 minutes which is exactly what happens now when I visit the mother and other family members on the other side of the county.

- Lucky for me there's an exit only 3 minutes away from my home.

- In the past, trucks that came from cities north of D.C., had to take a 45-60 trip around DC's beltway and then go north on MD. 270 to get to numerous commercial enclaves in north/western Montgomery county, but now they use the ICC to cut across the county and save 25 minutes on average.
