Those who get a lot of PMs will usually try to answer them all at once to maintain a time-consolidated visit to this awesome forum!

But waiting 500 seconds between PMs is EXTREMEMLY PAINFUL!!!!!!!

Could we maybe try 300 seconds at least????

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE?????

Allen

My PM timer is currently at 300 seconds, and yes I agree it's awful. Nothing like a box full of PMs and starting at the wall for 3 min+ because you can't answer them.

Agreed. I had to drop PM's altogether as a source of contact.

There should be a rule that allows:

    0-250 posts = 500 sec wait
    250-500 posts = 90 sec wait
    500+ = no wait.

      Ahem...

I think, if anything, it should go by how long you've been a member here.

I could get up to 500 posts, if I wanted to, in about a month.

P.S. Dang, Lou! You've been here so long you should get your PMs before they're even sent!

That seems like a better idea, but I think there should be a post count and how long you've been a member here restriction. I haven't been a member here long, but let's say someone registered here about 3 years ago, but never made but a handful of posts. Should they get any priority?

I think having a graduated system, is a great idea, and it not only benefits long standing well contributed members, but it gives incentive to others to stay active and involved in the forum.

    It's currently set at 300, I think.

I've not played with vB for a long time, but if I remember correctly the setting BlueSquares wrote about could be implemented with maybe some usergroup permissions. Those with 500+ posts could be put into altogether different usergroup, and it could be no wait for them...

And yeah, I agree it's a pain for those who receive quite some PM's.

I was thinking about that once, for other reasons, but after talking with one of the actual programmers of VB about the size of the group that would have to be moved, i thought I better leave well enough alone.

If you're moving just a few hundred people VB itself can do it. Moving thousands becomes a lot more risky and must be done manually.

    Allen,

Have you seen the post by the Warrior who runs WarriorPlus.com He either has or has in the works a cue for the Warrior PM feature. You make all of your replies, hit send and they go out every 300 seconds or whatever the delay is.

I've lowered it to 60. We'll try it, but what do you want to bet the very next post we see about PM's on here will be:

"Why am I getting all this spam, can't something be done to stop it?"

    :-)
