Hi,

I installed this program so I could watch the Olympics live
but it turned out to be a program that promotes antivirus-08,

something is stopping it from uninstalling, I found the specific folder
it is in, when I try and delete the folder it can says access denied,

what if I opened the folder and deleted each component, there is a database file,
should I delete that,

also on my desktop it says Warning spyware detected on your computer,
I know this is not true, they just want me to by their product.

How do I get rid of this.

Thanks,

Jeremy

    Jeremy,

This is how I got rid of Antivirus XP 2008. It is different than the XP Antivirus 2008 most sites refer to.

First you need to stop the program from loading on startup. This is what you do to stop it:

    Start, run

    Type msconfig

    Go to Startup tab

    Uncheck lphc35dj0e1an
    Uncheck rhc75dj0e1an

    Click apply, then ok
    Restart computer

Then you need to delete the main files this program uses. Delete the following file:

    C:\windows\system32\lphc35dj0e1an.exe

Then delete the following folder and all files in it:

    C:\program files\rhc75dj0e1an

This should remove the program from your system but you probably still have a warning message displayed as your wallpaper in Windows and the virus removed the ability to change the wallpaper or your desktop settings.

To restore ability to change your desktop settings and select a different wallpaper and screen saver do the following:

    Start, run

    type Gpedit.msc

Navigate to User configuration, Administrative Templates, Control Panel, Display

Right click on Remove Display in Control Panel
Click on Properties and select Disabled

Do the same steps to change the following attributes to disabled:

    Hide Desktop Tab
    Prevent changing wallpaper
    Hide Apperance and Themes tab
    Hide Settings tab
    Hide Screen Saver tab

You should now be able to use your computer normally and change the wallpaper to something other than the warning message Antivirus XP 2008 set it to.

If that don't work for you, you can find other solutions here.

      Thanks Rick,

      I unchecked this:

      1phcv7dj0e14e
      rhcr7dj0e14e

I didn't see the 2 you say to uncheck, but I think these are
the right ones after seeing a new folder in my program files.

c:\windows\system32 I only saw SVCFactoryLog text file

      I found 1phcv7dj0e14e in

      c;\windows.0\system32\ I deleted it

also deleted rhcr7dj0e14e in program files

      Gpedit.msc was not found

during this process system restore message came up,
I also tried that but it did not restore it far enough back,
the calendar did not let me restore settings to aug 7th,

is there a way to restore the system to aug 7th,

antivirus 2008 still is in there everytime I click on a folder
      a message comes up,

I also tried control, alt delete to stop the process

is this program dangerous as far as accessing my online banking

      thanks

Glad to be some help. Yes, it is very annoying! From what I've read about it, it can
mess up your computer if it's not removed.

It took me about 3 hours to clean it out of my machine.

Paul'y - I use crapcleaner, too and I'll swear by it.

There are one heck of a lot of programs that claim to be fix-its or anti-spy, pop-up controllers, etc that are actually just nice big pandora's boxes. Make sure you investigate anything before you download it. Ya just never know.

                Adesegun,

You need to stop the program from loading at startup. Go back to my first post in this thread to find the instructions on how to do that. Then download the free software and run it.

    Hi Jeremy,

You may try Add/Remove 4Good to uninstall stubborn applications. I've tried this useful program. It works pretty fine on XP.
