They say it's to protect their network, but it seems like greed to me!

Yea, the "protect their network" excuse makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, and they know it.

YEAH YEAH YEAH! You DO know THAT is why they created that law that said you have to get a LICENSE to have WIFI, and not use it within 6000 feet of any other, RIGHT!?!?!?!?!? YEAH RIGHT! ACTUALLY, the FCC laws are VERY permissive, and you can have two networks side by side! I am at a hotel RIGHT NOW, and have used the network for over a day with NO problems, and there IS another network here! At my home, in an upper middle class neighborhood, there may be TWENTY networks competing with mine, and they have caused NO problems! On the street, there are likely no less than 5 at any hot spot! WHO could believe the "protect their network" excuse. They *****EVEN***** gave up that garbage on PLANES! And look at AIRPORTS!

This is LUDICROUS! I don't know how they could do it ANYWAY, since THEIR WIFI may ALSO be interrupted. FURTHER, the internet has become almost a NECESSITY for most of their customers, and some FRUSTRATED people with their stupid seemingly POTS lines, that WEREN'T. I have been lucky, and most phones had an adapter ANYWAY, that I knew about, but I heard stories of people getting their modems damaged by hooking them up to their phone lines! So what did the industry do? Within like 2 years maybe, IIRC, they all ended up switching to WIFI and made it a SELLING POINT! BTW even some places that once charged $10/day for BASIC internet now offer BETTER internet for FREE!!!!!!

With all this, hotels do NOT know how to use the internet, etc... They will even STATE that they are IGNORANT when pressed with a disaster. WHOLE PARTS of a hotel may go out, and sometimes the WHOLE hotel may go out. It is like the cable companies in the years after @home went bankrupt.
If you have a problem, and "are LUCKY", they will give you an out of state company to call. It may get fixed in an hour, or a WEEK!

SOME people, like me, PAY EXTRA to the telephone company for MIFI service AS A BACKUP!!!!! WHY do you need a backup? Well, ONE reason is because the LOCAL network, like the HOTEL'S, might FAIL! What would a hotel do if a company ends up getting hurt, or a "guest" gets fired because THEY interfered with communications? Could we sue them for the perhaps MILLIONS it could cost? I mean an innocent breakdown is ONE thing! If it is caused by a malicious act, that is ANOTHER.
