Do you cook? Do you have any skills in the kitchen?

I am not bad in the kitchen, i wouldn't consider myself an expert or anything, but i can throw a decent meal together. I've got chicken down. I dont really cook fried chicken, but other than that, chickens fear me. And of course because of my male dna, i have been known to grill a steak or two.

I am also an omlette master. I make a pretty serious omlette, actually i do pretty good with breakfast in general.

Lately i've been baking my own bread. I know its probably cheaper to just go buy a loaf, but i would rather make the dough myself and bake it. I can handle wheat and pumperknickel, honey wheat and rye at this point.

I'm working on wine next.

I am an excellent cook - thanks to my Mother who did much entertaining and taught me very well. I choose to cook because processed foods scare the hell out of me - should scare everyone who cares if their body goes into toxic meltdown or not.

Tina - I don't know if I could survive without homemade breads. I like to mix up about 10 grains in the dough - and smother it with real butter when it's done. YUUUUUMMMMMMM.

My specialties are Italian - including pizza which isn't REALLY Italian, Chili Verda with pork, cajun shrimp linguini - and my breads. God I love homemade food.

    Microwave oven cooking.
    Fast & efficient.

Why use 50 minutes to heat something in the regular oven,
when it's done in 5 minutes in a microwave oven.

Like Italian? I challenge anyone to try and make a better sauce with meat balls

Helps when you grow up in a large Sicilian family and have a grandmother (nonna) who loves to feed everyone until they can't move. Now I'm hungry

No one makes Rock Cakes like I do. I've received many compliments from people who've told me that they are so indistinguishable from genuine rocks that it would be a shame to eat them. My sliced gravy is legendary, and my soup-in-a-basket is to die for. At least, that's what the survivors have told me.

I hate cooking, but if I didn't, my children would starve! My hubby can look in an empty pantry, or an empty fridge, and come up with a great meal, he needs to start coming home from work early so he can do the cooking.

Must admit, though, I'm getting a bit more inspired since watching Master Chef Australia.

I reckon a Warrior cookbook is a great idea, maybe make it a few dollars, and ship the money to Kiva, I think it is, the crowd that do the loans for people in third world countries. It's in Allen's sig. Anybody in?

Having learned to detest most frozen dinners, I'm learning how to cook... I'm no expert (yet) but I let one of my coworkers try my curry rice and he was a big fan. My boyfriend's a lot more experienced with cooking and is teaching me how (though most often he takes over and I just watch! But I pay attention). I also really like baking... I've been known to bake cookies at 3 AM just because I'm bored.

i've been really hitting the healthy stuff lately. My breakfast lately is usually 3 eggwhites, chopped green/red peppers salt/pep. one piece of low sodium hand chopped, one slice of low fat provolone cheese sliced and a cup of coffee. I think this weekend im going to suprise my other half with breakfast in bed, she's been working her a$$ off for the last couple weeks.

Sounds like a good breakfast, up to the low sodium hand that is
Now take those 3 egg yolks your not using and make a nice Hollendaise sauce to cover it all

I like cooking simple but good stuff now a days.
I got my degree in Culinary Arts in 82(?) and was the Chef deGrande Manger at Albany Country Club through most of the 80's. I was allowed a lot of creativity there which was a blast, working 6, 16 hour days, and 1, 8 hour day a week from April to Labor day, not quite the blast you would think.

i cook every day woithout fail, I rarely eat takeouts because I don't know is in them. To cook yourself is a sure way of knowing that you are eating sensibly and you are in control of the sodium etc. I have spent eleven years of my life just wandering around the world collecting recipes so I have tens of thousands to choose from. What foods and cuisines do I like best all of them but I do prefer fantastic quality food, organic vegetables cooked simply I dont like things rolled in anythingh and then fried just grill them to start with. I guess I ma expert on Indian Sri Lankan and Burmese and Pakistan

If I wanted to eat...I had to learn to cook for myself.
I was on my own since I was 16....
My "Ex Wife" didn't cook anything unless it came in a can or a box....
I became quite proficient whether it was breakfast, lunch, dinner, deserts or holiday meals...

Now...I use my gas grill more than my stove / oven...
        I have 1 1/2" Rib Eye's...medium rare down to a science....
Tony Roma's doesn't cut it next to my Ribs....

I can definitely cook and enjoy it.

My specialties may be a bit eclectic though - Khoresh Gormeh Sabzi (a green Persiaon stew), Jerk Chicken w/ Rice and Peas and I love making different types of homemade hamburgers...you can make sooo many different varieties of patties very easily by switching a few ingredients. (i.e. Jamaican burgers using ground chicken, jerk sauce and thyme)

Cooking the good old German style kitchen but it takes some time to prepare everything. So I consider always the ratio between time needed preparing the dinner and the time eating it. Love also my wife's cooking. Our favorite dinners:

Farmers Breakfast (depending on the time of the day it's also Farmers Dinner)
    Schnitzel
    Gulasch (Hungarian Kitchen)

My mom taught me to cook, and as a young teenage mom living on bare minimums she made some amazing meals outta nothing, taught me to do the same. Cooking and baking are second nature to me, can't recall the last time I used a recipe. I'll read one once to see what's in, decide why it's in there, whether it should be or not and alter to my tastes. With five little picky mouths it can be a daunting task to cook a meal, they'll all eat but I've mastered kids meals pretty well LOL

I used to be a pastry chef. I make the world's best cheesecake. It took me about twelve years to get it exactly right.

I'd still be a pastry chef if there was any money in it, but there's sort of... not.

Yes I can and do cook frequently partially down to the fact I've worked as a Chef a few years ago, after that I've kind of been forced to cook dinner every night (lol).

I like to cook a wide variety of foods from many cultures and places such as Italian, Indian (mostly curry *drool*), Tapas and traditional British food. I must also say that I am the GRAND DADDY when it comes to whipping up a desert too!

I can cook some good italian and mexican dishes however my wife is a great asian cook so she does most of the cooking. She likes hers more than mine so that is another reason she cooks more often.

I always get stuck with the cleaning up no matter who cooks.

My mother was an excellent cook and she loved to bake. When she passed away in February 2008, it was like she left her cooking gene to me because all of a sudden I became interested in cooking and baking, and I've found that I'm actually quite good at it. My three sisters found out I'm good at making several things that taste "just like Mom's" so I'm the one that gets to make them for everyone.

One thing in particular that I do well is my mother's Italian Soup. Actually, my mother learned how to make it from her mother who was an Italian immigrant. The soup is not the same as Italian Wedding Soup and takes a few days to make. It involves rolling by hand about three hundred dough balls about the diameter of a penny and then baking them for about ten minutes. Then, you have to roll a few hundred meatballs, the same size as the dough balls, and fry them lightly just so they hold together. Next, you make chicken broth from scratch. When the broth is done, you add the dough balls and the meat balls to it and throw in some hard boiled egg yolks to thicken the broth a bit. It's a favorite in our family but because it takes a lot of work to make, it doesn't get made often!

I consider myself to be a pretty good cook. Most of my cooking skills are self taught though, polished through hours of careful observation and note taking from the greats of the food network. But on a more serious note, yea its not very difficult to learn how to be a good cook you just need patience and great taste buds
