Selling a well established website

I realise this may not quite be "off topic" as such, but it's also not necessarily about making money online in the way the forum is used. If there is a better spot, I do appologise.

I have a website, which has been active since the beginning of 2004. It's prodominatntly a forum and is well used - averaging over 10,000 visitors a day (unique) and making an ok profit from ad revenue, affiliate sales, CPA offers, etc.

I don't want to boast, but it's not a small site.

After 5 years, I'd like to move on. I'm currently working on a different site that I'd like to be able to focus solely on. The one I want to sell is completely automatic, however I would like to move away completely.

Can anyone help me on a good place to sell it? Or how to sell it? I don't want to put a "this site is for sale" sign on it as I'd like it to happen without the members who use the site knowing too much about it. I don't really want to answer 100's of curious george emails.

So far I've found a few places, but they all seem to sell smaller sites - $xx to $x,xxx amounts. I'm after more ideally, but also not sure exactly how much it's worth and don't want to rip anyone off, or miss out myself. Which is another reason why I'd like to find a place to sell where higher price websites are sold and the people buying have a better idea of what a site is worth.

Can anyone help me out?

There is a new subforum here under the Warrior Special Offers section - which is websites for sale - haven't read the rules for it yet but you might check it out.

For that sort of site, it has to be flippa.com which used to be part of the sitepoint marketplace and routinely sells sites for up to ###.###

A large well run forum can fetch far more than the usual 10X monthly revenue rule.

Thanks for the info guys. Going by this post it looks like the place to go. I've got NO idea how to go about it though or what to ask - only gone by the webpages I've read that said to use 4 to 10 x monthly revenue.

But thankyou for at least giving me a place to go.
