I got up today and logged into my ebay partner account. I find out that someone actually bought a $7100 2002 Acura through a totally unrelated site for an almost $100 commission.

It's nice to wake up to something like that and finding out that I'm now a used car salesman.

On a related note... who would buy a car off ebay without driving it first???

Some one whos looking for a project car? I have a few friends who will buy pretty much anything with 4 wheels aslong as the body is intact to a degree. Then they spend 4-6 months rebuilding it and reselling it. Some guys can turn a profit, other guys do it just for fun as a hobby.

I have a friend that got scammed by a sale on EBay cars. I can't remember how they pulled it off but it invloved bogus checks and such. I'll try to get the details and post the story.
    Congrats on the sale though.

The one i heard of regularly went something like this

'hi i live in nigeria, i would like to buy your car, how much to get it shipped'

it will cost 4000 for the car, another 2000 to ship

'i will send a check for 6500, keep the rest for your trouble'

      cool, ill ship it out.

then mr car salesman deposits the check and ships the car, maybe even pulls money out against the check, depending on the bank. It takes about 2-3 weeks for the bank to figure out the check is bad, by that time, the car salesman is not only out a car, but probably out however much he spent of the check

Yep congrats on making $100 in your sleep
I tried to sell a friends car on eBay once, what a riot.
Someone emailed me telling me they sent the money and why wasn't the car delivered. They said it was suppose to be delivered to Conn.
I told them they where mistaken but they insisted.
After a few emails back and forth they threatened to report me to eBay saying they have saved all our correspondence. I told them to go ahead as I had already alerted eBay and sent them all the emails.
I never heard from them again.

Congrats on the sale. I would have sort that it is likely to be a dealer who wants to resell the car for a profit after putting some work into it.
