Well, I'll honestly confess that 90% of what I read is NOT off of the Internet, so I have no idea what infowars is, actually. I hope that's a good thing as my reason for reading things in print from well-respected publications is to maintain some semblance of being properly informed.

I hope that wasn't an epic fail. :-)

Yes ... that's a good thing. Infowars would be religiously cited in support of just about any conspiracy theory you can conjure up.

Alexander Emerick "Alex" Jones (born February 11, 1974) is an American conspiracy theorist, radio show host, documentary filmmaker, and writer. His syndicated news/talk show The Alex Jones Show, based in Austin, Texas, airs via the Genesis Communications Network and WWCR Radio shortwave across the United States, and on the Internet. His websites include Infowars.com and PrisonPlanet.com.

Jones has been the center of many controversies, including his controversial statements about gun control in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. He has accused the US government of being involved in the Oklahoma City bombing, the September 11 attacks and the filming of fake Moon landings to hide NASA's secret technology. He believes that government and big business have colluded to create a New World Order through "manufactured economic crises, sophisticated surveillance tech and--above all--inside-job terror attacks that fuel exploitable hysteria". Jones describes himself as a libertarian and a paleoconservative.

New York magazine described Jones as "America's leading conspiracy theorist",[14] and the Southern Poverty Law Center describes him as "the most prolific conspiracy theorist in contemporary America." When asked about these labels, Jones said that he finds himself "proud to be listed as a thought criminal against Big Brother".

Well, my profound ignorance is on full display. I have never heard of it, or him.

I think I'll play it that I move in better circles. lol

It makes for fascinating reading and I have read it, but it's somewhat like venturing into the Twilight Zone. lol.

Life is short. My fascination with being fascinated has waned over the past few years. :-)

If I ever feel like spending a few hours in the Twilight Zone, I'll visit my ex. Oh, wait a minute. I have that confused with the fires of hell.

Well, I read the article but I certainly did not find a word of it plausible. Simply sounded like unbridled paranoia.

You don't want to get me started on her. I'm deeply conflicted on that topic. I know that as a totally disabled Vietnam veteran I am supposed to hate her above all else. While I will never agree that what she did was anything but hurtful and incredibly stupid, I am a firm believer in forgiving people for their youthful indiscretions, especially when they hail from the world of the pampered elite.

I volunteered for combat at the age of 17 and when I finally got there I committed my own shameful acts in Vietnam. I would hope that someone would forgive me, too.

I'm sure that a lifetime of guilt has affected her no differently than it has me. Forgiving her is the only way to open the door to someday forgiving myself.

No 'cheers' on this one. - Frank

Thanks, Kurt. I'll check that out with my morning coffee. Just toddling off to bed.

Still, at 45 failed predictions, his record is a bit better than mine. :-)

Well, I listened and a few minutes was all I could handle. Anyone that make Glenn Beck and myself seem lucid and rationale, is not to be taken seriously, at all.

Hard to believe that anyone would pay attention to anyone so obviously insane.

Popular Science had an article about them a few years back:

Rise Of The Insect Drones | Popular Science

Jones has an excellent research team. He turns out to be right more often than should be comfortable for us..........and he sensationalizes more than is comfortable, too - drama queen.

Here's a bigger model of an insect facsimile mini drone that's, I believe, something anyone can buy:

    TechJect

Trying to find a US Patent for the insect drone - that's a sure way to find out if something is just plain fact. Figuring out what category or name is a different rush.

This page is extremely interesting and eye opening about the drone industry itself. It's big business, with China at the lead:

Yeah ... the Popular Science article covers the reason for imitating the way insects fly ... doesn't really say anything about DNA sucking drones. That's MisInfoWars that implies that's happening. lol.

As they sat nursing their beers, Guiler and Vaneck watched as a fly appeared to slam into a window. Instead of breaking apart on contact as their drones did, the insect bounced off the glass and recovered. Then it did it again.

“It was an epiphany,” says Vaneck, who works for the Massachusetts research and development company Physical Sciences Inc. (PSI). “We realized if we could make a manmade system that could hit things, recover, and continue on, that’s a revolution.”

The idea of borrowing designs from nature is far from new, particularly when it comes to flight. The ancient Greeks dreamed up Daedalus, who fashioned wings for his son (which unfortunately worked a little too well). Leonardo da Vinci sketched a human-powered ornithopter. But until recently, inventors lacked the aerodynamics expertise to turn diagrams into mechanical versions of something as quotidian as a fly or a bee. As technology has advanced, scientists have decoded many of nature’s secrets. And engineers have developed the first flying, insect-inspired vehicles, opening the door to an entirely new class of machine: the microdrone.

Jones has a skill in taking real news items and scientific breakthroughs - and adding his own "facts and conjectures" to turn those news items into propaganda and conspiracies.

Time after time you will see people defend Infowars by saying "there is some truth in what he says". Of course there is - he begins with a piece of truth and distorts the hell out of it.

He's had a lot that didn't fail that everyone thought he was bizarrely insane for, too. I haven't looked at that list yet and don't know if all of them are actually fails or not. He's been right enough that it's always a good idea to at least take him with a grain of salt. I'm not a follower but when I see something he said, I'm more likely to research it for plausibility than I am to just reject it because it was from Jones. He's been right often enough to warrant that much.

As far as drones such as these - they'll be hard to track down if real. These things aren't something that the owners are going to want mainstream knowledge about.
