Every time I get all the boxes in the house cleared out, our things organized and put away or up in the proper places, dust, vacuum, get the house looking awesome, hubby brings in more!!

I got rid of half of my clothes, half of my shoes and tonnage of books, knick-knacks and what-nots before we even moved. I'm getting frustrated!

I want to throw a lot of stuff away and give a lot to charity as well, but hubby wants me to have a yard sale in the Spring. I sooo am not a yard sale kinda girl. So I told him that he would have to do it!

He said he would! he just lied to me, didn't he?

I'm doomed!

Help!!

Yes. No man, left to his own volition, plans a yard sale.

Step One: Load crap in truck/suv.
Step Two: Drop off crap at Goodwill.
Step Three: Get a receipt for said crap.
        Step Four: Tax Deduction!
        Step Five: Profit.

Seriously. Our year-long Goodwill drop offs totaled over $5,000 in 2014. That's a nice little deduction to have. Now, that was a big year for us. Normally, we're in the $2-3,000 range.

Thanks, but I suggested that already and he said he'd get a better return if we sold the stuff outright.

Do you think that if I told him we had to have the sale in the pole barn and he couldn't use it for a couple of weekends and that I might accidentally sell some of his tools and stuff, he might change his mind?

No, because he knows there's no way you'd accidentally sell his tools.

The idea of getting a better return is great in theory and may even have some real world truth to it depending on the quality of your junk, but you also have to look at the opportunity cost: you have to store it, hold it until the sale, deal with weirdos flitting around your property, lose a weekend talking to said weirdos, etc. For me, it's a more effective use of my time and resources to just load up the Explorer and drop off the junk.

What about eBay, Terra? Places like that. Unfortunately, you would have to pack and ship, but lots of people do that. I've seen some do local sales for pick up only, but then you'd have people coming to the house or have to meet them somewhere in a busy public place.

A very long time ago, my mother and I did a yard sale. Between the two of us, we took in $600. I have to say it was a lot of work, but worthwhile at the time.

I plan on getting very busy very soon myself to clean out a lot of things we no longer need. If we ever get around to moving somewhere, at least the clean out will be done in advance. Getting my husband to let go of a lot of his unneeded (IMO) stuff will be tough. All will just go to one of the local charities and I'm no longer waiting on neighbor's promises to jointly yard sale our stuff.

Pardon me, WC, but you think you're a god and you're inferring that I'm delusional?

Something tells me that you've never really been in love before with someone who you know instinctively, who you connect with on the deepest level and who allows you to grow as a person within your relationship. Someone with whom you connect fervently with on every level of being, with palpable chemistry and electricity whenever you're in their presence. Someone who realizes that each of you are two parts of the same whole, and no outside influence or external matter can break that bond. That no matter what life may throw at you, you know that you're in this relationship for the long haul and find that times of disagreement don't tear you apart but bring you closer together when all is said and done.

              Am I right?

I love purging old stuff - or stuff no longer needed. It feels good to "lighten the load" -

Terra, have fun getting rid of the stuff - I'm sure your hubby won't really care when it is all said and done - after all, if he is as wise of husband as I think he is based on how you have described him, he knows that a happy wife means a happy home.

Tell him it's for the good of your health ... that you don't want to risk bringing molds into the new house if it isn't necessary stuff. If he doesn't buy that, get rid of it anyway. Always great to start fresh without a lot of accumulated junk in a new house.

You got that right! I look out into the garage and see unpacked boxes and still packed boxes, get overwhelmed, then just close the door.

Thus hubby bringing in boxes. Of course he brings in boxes I'm not ready for and the things I'm looking for to complete decorating or organizing, I can't find.

That's not even counting the stuff in the pole barn that I haven't even ventured out to yet. I guess you just have too much furniture and what not when you cut your square footage by half. Sigh...

If I could only have donated more to charity when I had the chance!! Dang Allergy Induced Asthmatic Pneumonia messed that all up!!

But on a happy note, my new washer, dryer and refrigerator were delivered today.

There is no way on God's green earth our house would ever come close to that. I won't allow it, lol!

It's not that he doesn't want to get rid of it, it's that he want's me to sell it and make some cold hard cash rather than donate it.

All of the boxes, totes, and furniture etc. are in his pole barn, not the house. And trust me, when Spring rolls around and he wants to work on his race car but finds limited space to do so because of it all, he'll be more than willing to let me donate rather than wait for warmer weather and a yard sale.

It was in the front entry at the old house. Just yesterday, Bill asked me if I wanted it and when I told him there was no need for it here, he took it from the garage and put it in the pole barn.

Now that helps - the pic doesn't. When I remember colors in a dream that were vivid, I don't care about patterns, I don't like the color match. At all. Not sure if that means anything. I'm still trying to figure out the significance of a bright red cabochon in a dream I had decades ago. I remember the whole dream sequence simply because of the color of that stone. Go figure.

Do you have charity shops that will collect stuff from you, in their little van, like we do? This is an ideal way to de-clutter. It has great speed and efficiency in its favor, as well as "being civic-minded" etc. ... if you can talk your husband into it.

      Yes, they were pairs, lol!

With all of the stuff I have donated already, we have receipts totaling $3,000.

We do have charities that will pick up stuff, but it must be furniture and big items.

Hey, that gives me an idea!

I need an evil smiley, hehe!

When we finally agree on the new furniture and it gets delivered, I can call Good Will, Fish, or Purple Heart and have them pick up the old couches (3) and chairs (4), I can have them load up all of the boxes currently being stored out in the pole barn waiting for the big event too!

      I like it!

I'll just have to come up with something spectacular to offset the anger I induce in hubby.

Somehow I predict a lot of stuff piled up in the pole barn until spring. gaak.

I know how ya feel, though - I'm absolutely sick of boxing and unboxing right now. Glad I left most of it all in my trailer for storage.

I have a few more boxes left. My phone, I believe, is gone. My ex landlady's daughter is out of jail and the last night of work I came home to find a little money and a few items including my phone gone. I was hoping she'd just used it and put it somewhere in my stuff but it seems to be gone.

I have 3 more boxes to check for it. Not sure what I'm going to do - get a new cell phone or just do skype. I don't think I should need a cell here, but might opt for one anyhow. I'll figure it out by Friday. Anyhow - All calls are held until I either find my old phone or get a new one, girl. Sigh. I'm so glad to be out of the Parana pits. I loved Central OR aesthetically, but socially and economically it's gone downhill into landfill status as far as I saw there. It's a shame, too - it was an awesome area before conglomerate corporations took it over.

We are onto the triumvirate now, though. We will use our miniaturized onions to watch all alliances.
Tracing the movements of shoes seems crucial - especially the Louboutin's and the pink ones (hikers and running shoes).

I had too many people confusing me for a guy. Sal seems to be a usually male nickname. Since my writing is gender-neutral, too many people think they're talking to a guy so I put my pic back up.

Ask KimW some of our conversations when I first chatted with him -- and thought he was a female! He put up a photo avatar shortly after that, too. LMAO.

James Taylor and Carly Simon were married and have a daughter named - you guessed it - Sally Taylor. So, the post is about her, sort of. And their son's name is - you guessed it - Kim. (Just kidding about their son's name. His name is Ben.)

(Hmmm. Taylor Swift admires James Taylor (get the Taylor connection) and Carly Simon (performed "You're
So Vain" with her, and I'm certain that she has a pair of Louboutin shoes. Maybe she has a part in this world domination plot. Just connecting dots. Just sayin'.)

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I have met 2 or 3 men named Kimberly. It is confusing.

Back in the day when I worked with lawyers and other yuppies who were dead serious about their professional careers, there were a lot of women who would use their first initial and then middle name to make people think they were a man. Something like D. Sam Smith, Esq. This was in the mid 80's and even then men did automatically get more authority. When I first started that job, people took my word more than my female co-workers who had been doing the job a lot longer. One of those women was my supervisor and the second in charge of the office.

@Terra - I swiped your words about love and will always give credit where it is due. Beautiful.

Taylor is my married name. I didn't change it back because I was ticked off about the amount they wanted to heist from me to return my name to me - and figured I'd just marry again anyhow. By the time I figured I might choose to never marry again, everyone knew me as Taylor so I've kept it.

Also -- If you take note of any ebooks I've got out that aren't PLR, the name on the by-line is S.A. Taylor. The fiction I'm dabbling with now (forever now, it seems) will be under a nom de plume.

          Isolated. ISOLATED. ????? Really, Dan.

25 miles straight shot down main highway from intenational destination ski resorts - night life, spas, pubs, restaraunts, ski lodges, and all the activities you could ask for to meet people at. Jet setters. Manager of a small town hotel that caters to tourists of fairly respectable means. 40 minutes from the metropolis of Denver. Isolated.

Terra - if this guy is Isolated, it means he's hanging out with the likes of Wild Mountain Jack, and that would be a choice (and a scary one), not necessity. Anything can't unsee or unknow about it is totally a result of "weird as hell" not "Isolated".

Reminder, in case his wavy avatar is not enough, don't listen to Riffle.
    He's a Buckeye, don't ya' know.

And no matter what, don't ask him or Claude about their trip to an isolated state.

As for me, there's this thing called the internet that seems to let people meet people
from all over the world via something called dating sites. I might just give it a try.
Not the Plenty of Fish one because TBird says you have to be kind to fish, and
I read somewhere - can't imagine where - that they don't like older people.

Or, Terra, maybe I'll just do something with some of those words for a teespring
campaign and send you your portion.

I can't just throw it out knowing there are people in need, I do plan to donate it though.

I know there is no way hubby will have a yard sale himself and I won't have one either, sooo...
