What are your thoughts on this fight? Is this ever going to happen? May 2 is just a little more than 3 months to go..

Just to lighten things up.

I'm a Pacquiao fan. That's a given because I'm a Filipino. Hope this fight happens! If it doesn't happen, it would only confirm that Mayweather is afraid of Pacquiao since Pacquiao has already agreed to all of Mayweather's terms so there is no reason for it not to happen.

I'm an African American, a huge Pacquiao fan, and I despise Floyd Mayweather.

People who say they "despise" someone - is a bit extreme. When someone that loud, you want to hate him because of his "gimmick" but no one can doubt the skill or quality.

Mayweather only fights fighters he can beat. He hands pick young inexperienced fighters or about to retire fighters that have no fight left. Pacman is the only one that has the experience and tools to beat Mayweather and Floyd fears him.

ESPN reports that Bob Arum says the deal should be finalized in the next couple of days!

It's about time. This fight should have happened when both fighters were at their peak.

Even so, it's still going to be a big mega fight. I hope Pacman wins. He is clearly the better man, not just the better boxer. Mayweather has been ducking Manny for years and will do anything to preserve his undefeated record.

My father was an amateur boxer, so I grew up hitting punching bags, speed bags, shadow boxing, etc. and still do a lot of shadow boxing for exercise. I admire the craft. And both of these fighters have amazing boxing acumen.

From a fighting standpoint, the two fighting styles will be an interesting match up because they are so different.

Though Manny has both power and speed, Mayweather, even at his current age, is still incredibly fast and his reflexes are still very sharp. The fighter who can dictate the fight is going to win this one.

Hopefully the fight gets put on sooner rather than later. Summer would be perfect!

    Yuck!!!

Now I hear from ESPN that negotiations are starting to unravel.

I wish I was a fly on the wall for this.

i think this wont happen until Mayweather beats Rocky Marciano's record. To much politics in this fight, Bob Arum vs. Mayweather, HBO vs Showtime, etc. Just fight!

Yeah, I have thought this for a very long time. Probably not too many ways it can happen before he gets his 50th win unless the fix is in. To be honest, I have seen enough of Mayweather's counterpunching style and I have heard enough from his big money mouth.

      Cheers

Mayweather seemed to suggest via twitter that Arum was a liar from the start basically saying there wasn't any point where a deal was close.

I'm setting aside a couple thousand for bets with folks who think Pacquiao has a chance.

    I'll even give 2-1 odds.

Of course he has a punchers chance and that's about all - IMHO.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mayweather carries pacman by laying against the ropes a lot so that maybe folks will buy a 2nd fight in which he finally destroys the pacman's myth for all to see.

Better keep that in the bank. It has a better chance of earning interest there because this fight will not happen anytime soon. It's not looking promising right now. Less than 3 months to go before May 2. And no official announcement yet. They already met during the Heat game and after that in Pacquiao's hotel room.

However, I think Manny does have the skill to give Floyd his first loss. Mayweather would just ride the bicycle all match long.

Its ridiculous to think that Floyd would run from Manny when he didn't run from a man who was 10 pounds heavier than him (Canelo).

I hope we get to see what happens when those two get into the ring together.

          Sorry, I couldn't resist.

It's like watching paint dry waiting for those two to agree a date for a good scrap.

I think the time has already passed on this fight. It should have now taken place when Paquiao was at his prime, not past it (as Mayweather probably is too). It has lost most of its meaning.

Maybe to genuine fight fans, but certainly not to Paquiao and Mayweather who'll have multi-million $$$ signs blinking at them. I think it's only thrashing out the respective purse's that's been the major delaying factor. The only other reason there could possibly be is that both fighters don't want to end their career with a defeat, Mark of respect for each other I guess.

Putting all the national pride and politics aside. I respect both Manny Pacquiao and Mayweather as top notch boxers. I would pay the money to see this match but I lost my faith that this match would even happen long ago.
