If the Patriots are not able to drain their balls, I'm going with the Seahawks by 3. :-)

    Reason Seattle wins:

Seattle has too much talent.... much of it due to a QB who gets paid a tiny fraction of what most star QBs make. Having an "extra" $19 million a year buys you a few more star players.

At least this time you made a prediction.

There was nary a peep out of you in that thread you mentioned until AFTER the final victory by Ohio State.

Next time speak up for your team!

I'm going with the Patriots but probably not for the reasons you're thinking.

You see, the original Patriots were also known as the rebels, and believe it or not, I have a little rebel in me.

I have nothing in common with the Sea Hawks.

The Patriots are a better all round team - offense, defense and special teams. Seatle has a great running back but not so much of a passing attack. They have a great defense but they are playing against a great offense. They have some injuries on that defense.

    Pats will roll !!!!!!!!!!

And as Enfusia said - "Better coach, better quarteback and they have Gronk!"

I am going to go with the Seahawks after seeing the heart they had to come back against Greenbay. Wilson is a threat at both running the ball and passing the ball. Besides Brady chokes a lot during Superbowls.

Besides Brady chokes a lot during Superbowls.

A good pass rush will slow down any QB.

And remember, in that first Super Bowl loss to the Giants, Brady did drive his team down the field for the go-ahead TD very late in the game but the defense couldn't stop the Giants from scoring the lead taking TD with less than a minute to go.

The Patriots are hungrier and the slightly better team, Patriots 27, Seahawks 24. There are going to be at least two major momentum changes during the game too. It'll be a fun game to watch regardless who wins!

Just put the chili on the warmer and pulled the BBQ brisket. Getting ready to crack open my "psycho pickles" I brined early last week. Nothing like some habanero pickles to get the taste buds warmed up.

Wilson is tearing 'em up now he's 8-11 for 166 with 2TD and 39 yards rushing. Beast Mode is looking good, and the shoe guy is going off like he is Lynn Swann. What a great call Carroll made at the end of the first half. Brady has tossed 2 picks so far and he has some work to do catch Bradshaw and Montana... Hopefully Seattle can keep playing at a high level these last 18 minutes and close this thing out.

Hawks had them on the ropes when it was 24-14...

Oh my God! I shouted when that dude jumped that route.

But why not Beastmode at that time?

As I expected, the Pats did not beat themselves but IMHO the Hawks did.

Seattle made most of the penalties and dumb mistakes and the poor clock management (two silly time outs) didn't help and may have been responsible for the Hawks wanting to throw the ball instead of pounding the Beast.

Brady, Belecheck, The Pats and all true Pat fans get the last laugh.

    Congrats!

BTW, that was a great game and a great halftime show.

    And IMHO...

The NFL now openly allows receivers to push off as long as its not too obvious.

No reason at all...it was a dumb call. Carroll said in his post-game comments that they thought they had the call for the Pats goal line set, and if it didn't work, inferred that they were going to run it on third and fourth down (if needed). They had plenty of time to pound it twice from the one as they had the timeout left.

Beast Mode lead the league in TD's, and was second in yards after first contact, and he earned the name Beast Mode by running over and through people time and time again and it was his time tonight. He just gave them 4 yards from the 5 on the previous play for gosh sake. If they were not going to give it to him on second down then they should have let Russell run the read option and at least fake it to him. Do that and they still had another run play left if Russell does not score.

As I expected, the Pats did not beat themselves but IMHO the Hawks did.
Yeah, I can agree with that.

Seattle made most of the penalties and dumb mistakes and the poor clock management (two silly time outs) didn't help and may have been responsible for the Hawks wanting to throw the ball instead of pounding the Beast.
The had plenty of time to hand the ball to Beast Mode --> and Carroll admitted that fact after the game. They had 26 seconds when they ran the pass from the one...if the pass fell incomplete it would have left about 20 seconds on the clock. At that point they could run Beast Mode, and if he doesn't score, they use the timeout at the 10 or 12 second mark and run him again (or Russell) on 4th down for the game. They had enough time to run it at least 2 times, but the pick obviously erased those opportunities.

It was a horrible call any way you look at it. I think Bevell and/or Carroll were trying to squeeze in a (potential) third play by calling that pass and it cost them, the team, and the Seattle fans dearly. If they wanted to squeeze a third play in with a bit less risk then they could have ran the ball on second down, called the timeout if it did not score, then throw the pass on 3rd down, and if it falls incomplete then run it again (or pass if you must) on the final play of the game.

      And IMHO...

The NFL now openly allows receivers to push off as long as its not too obvious.
Yeah, the push-offs are getting pretty bad. That said, I saw some grabbing and holding by DBs tonight that was not called, but I thought possibly the worst officiating that occurred in this game was the non-call on what appeared to be trip with the hand, on a Seahawk WR, after the Pat's DB had fallen with maybe 8 or less minutes to go in the game. That would have moved the chains and given Seattle considerably better field position etc.

Anyway, I believe if Seattle would have tried pounding it in from the one they would be in possession of another Lombardi Trophy right now.

      Cheers

I hope I can watch the replay. It's Monday morning in this part of the world so I have to go to work. Watched the highlights. What a great catch (with some luck that the ball bounced his way) by Kearse give the Seahawks a 1st and goal. Very bad play calling though. But you can't take anything away from the Patriots. Made the right calls. Congrats to Brady for passing Montana on the record for most TDs in a Superbowl.
